UM Social Engagement Project- Lead the Children to a Better Future

We, the 2nd year students of Faculty Language and Linguistics from Universiti Malaya (UM) are organizing a social engagement project from 17 to 19 April 2020. The purpose of the project is to visit the students in 2 elementary schools in Pahang, which is SK Run Chang and SK Kota Perdana. The UM students will be teaching the children academic subject such as English, Malay and Mathematics. Besides that, we will also take the responsibility to enlighten the schools’ environment. A total 140 UM students and 190 elementary school students are involved in this project. Expenses are needed to cover the transportation fees, meals and equipment for the activities.

马来亚大学（马大）语言暨应用语言学学院全体二年级生正在筹备一项活动日期从2020年4月17日（星期五）至19日（星期日）的社会服务计划。本次活动中，我们将会拜访彭亨州两间位于郊区的小学，分别为SK Run Chang and SK Kota Perdana。我们将依据小学课程教导当地小学生各科目，如马来语、英语以及数学。除此之外，我们也肩负美化校园的责任以为学生们创造良好的学习环境。大约140名马大生和190名当地学生将参与本次计划。因此，本次计划需要投入大量经费以确保拥有足够交通费用、伙食费、道具经费等等。

There are some objectives of this project:

本次计划涵盖以下目的：

1. To motivate the students to attend school.

The students are not actively present in class and prefers staying at home. This project aims to let them discover the charm of education and study so that they are willing to attend classes in school order to gain new knowledge and lead a brighter future.

一、 为了鼓励当地学生积极求学

据了解，当地学子的课堂出席率并不高。通过本次活动，我们希望让孩子们了解教育和学习的魅力已提高当地的课堂出席率并激发他们求学的意志。最终，学生们将都在学校接受教育并开启走向康庄大道的未来。

2. To create a better study environment for the children.

The UM students will help conduct several activities such as cleaning the school compound and painting murals to make the school an enjoyable and comfortable place to study.

二、 为了为当地学生创造优良的学习环境

本次计划也是为了为孩子们打造最适合的校园学习环境。我们将在校园各角落展开校园美化活动如情节校园以及壁画彩绘。以结果而言，学生能够放心的使用各个校园设施并在舒适的环境中学习。

3. To contribute to the community.

This project aims to make a small contribution in the education industry and instill the value of doing charity.

三、 为了在力所能及内为社会做贡献

本次计划亦为了让大学生在条件允许下为社会尽绵薄之力，并提醒每个参与者每次善行都有其价值所在。

4. To cultivate all-rounded university students.

This project also aims to cultivate kind and humble UM students who can excel in soft skills and leadership skills.

四、 为了培养全方位优秀的大学生

本次计划是为了培养马大生有善心且谦卑的优良品格。因此，学生可成为一个全方位优秀的学院而非仅仅在学业上拥有优秀的造诣。

The social engagement project is a grand scale project that involves hundreds of students. Therefore, fundraising is needed to lighten the financial burden of the committees, mainly UM students. If the target fund is reached, it will be help cover up the transportation fees (RM8000), meal expenses (RM3200) and the equipment (RM500).

本次社会活动计划为一牵涉上百人的大型活动并需要高额的经费。正因如此，筹委会决定在此众筹平台筹募所需的费用以减少马大生的经济负担。若众筹金额能够达标，所筹经费将用于交通费（RM8000）、伙食费（RM3200）和道具费用（RM500）。
