So, to mark the 10 year anniversary of spending a month in Greenville, North Carolina with the Ulster Project, I will be returning to Greenville again in June only, this time, as a councellor.
The aim of the Ulster Project, which has been active since 1975, is to bring Northern Irish teenagers of both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds together whilst experiencing a different culture in America.
This year, my fellow councellor and I will be accompanying 7 teens from the city to America where we will all live with host families for 4 weeks. During this time we and our American counterparts will particpate in several service projects and religious events which will allow us to work with each other and the community to achieve a common goal.
(A second project with the same purpose will also take place in Knoxville, Tennessee)
As a councellor I have been asked to fundraise part of the cost of the project and would be grateful for any donations no matter how big or small
