About Me and OYW

My name is Kwehangana Hamza 23yrs. I am an entrepreneur, blogger and just graduated from University (2017. I am the co-founder of African Art Innovations Ltd a digital media startup company located in Namugongo - Wakiso District, Uganda.

I am also a member of a charitable organisation Gain Confidence Africa, where i have been in position to inspire, encourage and speak to thousands of youths, students and young people on the various events and sessions we carry out on a weekly basis in communities where we are invited. My theme has always been, "Girl Child Education and Building The Africa We Want to Live and See Tomorrow."

I have witnessed extreme poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, drug abuse to mention just a few. I believe my generation has the potential to make a real impact on the communities we live in and to create sustainable development for the future generations.

If I attend the summit, I will be able share my ideas with like minded people from all walks of life and compare to better our business and social projects which I participate. Despite the fact that I have to raise funds so that I can attend the summit, representing many youths in Uganda and those I have meet before under Gain Confidence Africa will be one of my greatest accomplishments and this will inspire many young people to gain confidence to startup.

Therefore, I would like to inform you that I was selected as one of the most suitable candidate to represent my country Uganda at this year's One Young World Summit in The Hague, Netherlands - October from 17th to 20th. One Young World is a Non-profit Organization that gathers together the brightest young people from around the world, empowering them to make life lasting connections to create positive change in their companies, communities and countries.

During the Summit, more than 1400 young leaders from more than 196 countries will meet, where we will be able to be heard, express our opinions, concerns and propose solutions to fit the global issues of this 21st century.

Unlike the previous summit last year in Columbia where i was invited to attend as a delegate but couldn't make it to raise the needed funds due to time constraints, now i have upto 8 months for this campaign to run, i still have strong belief that this time round it will be a success. All offline donations will be added here and updated from time to time as they come in.

What I Need

In order to be able to attend Summit, I must collect enough funds to cover up for OYW fees. This is where I'm asking for your help. I need to raise a total of USD 7,000 by Sept 30th which will cover:

  • Hotel accommodation in The Hague, Netherlands
  • All meals and catering
  • On-the-ground transport in The Hague
  • All handouts and Summit support materials
  • Flight to and fro the summit

Here is a copy of my acceptance and sponsorship appeal letter from OYW.

To whom it may concern,

This letter confirms that Kwehangana Hamza from Uganda, has been selected as a suitable representative of his country and generation for the One Young World Summit 2018, taking place from 17th to 20th October in The Hague, Netherlands.

One Young World is a charity that stages an annual Summit, which gathers together the brightest young people from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change. The 2017 Summit in Bogotá welcomed 1,400 delegates aged between 18 and 30 from 196 countries. Unlike any other event, the Summit gives young people the kind of media platform and forum ordinarily afforded only to the leaders of nations and corporations.

Kwehangana Hamza has been selected as an outstanding candidate to attend the upcoming Summit on the basis of his capacity for leadership, concern about global issues, ability to generate and articulate impactful ideas, teamwork and evidenced commitment to volunteering or other extracurricular activities.

At the Summit, the most valuable young talent from global and national companies, NGOs, universities and other forward-thinking organisations are joined by world leaders; the One Young World Counsellors. Previous Counsellors have included President Bill Clinton, Nobel laureate Kofi Annan, Sir Bob Geldof, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, Emma Watson, Justin Trudeau, Jamie Oliver, Fatima Bhutto, Unilever CEO Paul Polman and Mary Robinson.

Delegates debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces. Following each Summit the attending delegates become One Young World Ambassadors and are charged to work on their own initiatives or lend the power of the One Young World network to those already in existence. Ambassadors have gone on to have an impact on issues ranging from education, global business, health, human rights, sustainable development and transparency.

We invite you or your company/organisation to sponsor him as a delegate for the 2018 Summit in The Hague. This is a unique opportunity to play a part in inspiring the next generation of responsible leaders. The cost per delegate is £3,255 (GBP) flights not included. One Young World is a registered charity and makes no profit from delegate sponsorship.

We are delighted to give our approval to Kwehangana Hamza who has distinguished himself as an exemplary young leader. To sponsor Kwehangana Hamza, or to reserve a delegate place for another exceptional young person you may know, please contact our Partnerships team at [email protected].

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or require further information.

Thank you in advance for your contribution, however large or small.

Yours faithfully,

David Jones & Kate Robertson
