Campaign Story
I am raising funds for my UCT study fees, as I am in danger of being financially excluded by 2022 at UCT. Thus, I received the email that I will attach below, and yet I am asking for any samaritan who can be able to help me donate here or pay for my study fees only, as I am also staying in one of the UCT self catering residences with any form of bursary and food allowance while at Res, but my only concern is my education fees, that will uplift me to change my family situation and South Africa at large, using education as form of transformation.
Dear Msawenkosi Mfikili
We wish to bring to your attention that you have an outstanding debt on your student fee account of R129471.84 as at 2021-10-13 From 31 July 2021 interest is charged at 1% per month on outstanding balances. Interest will continue to increase your debt until the account is settled. Please ignore this letter, if you have already settled your account.
According to the university's fee policies, as published in the Student Fees Handbook, students whose fee debt exceeds R1,000:
- will not receive their examination results;
- will not be permitted to graduate;
- will not receive an academic transcript; and
- will not be permitted to re-register for the following year.
Financial Aid and GAP Funding students
Students are responsible for paying their contribution as outlined in their funding letters.
Readmission to Residence
Returning students will have their accommodation offer cancelled on 21 January 2022 if their fee debt exceeds R1,000 by 14 January 2022. This means that a student in residence for summer term or for a supplementary or deferred examination will be required to leave residence as soon as the examination has been held or the summer term session ends, if fees are still outstanding.
If a sponsor, bursar or person other than yourself pays your fees, the onus is still on you to ensure that your fees are paid. Please contact such persons to ensure payment is made promptly.
Credit card payments can be made at the Cashiers Office by the card-holder or on-line directly to the student fee account via the UCT website URL:http://payonline.uct.ac.za, or
Funds may be transferred directly into UCT's bank account: Standard Bank, Rondebosch, and Branch Code: 025009, Account number: 270689982. Your student number and name should be clearly marked on the deposit slip.
For further inquiries, you may direct your e-mail to [email protected] or call the Fees Office during office hours at 021 650 1704.
Yours faithfully
