UBUNTU HOSPITAL COVID-19 SUPPORT FUND

Ubuntu Hospital was started with the aim of alleviating human suffering. When our founder resigned to start the facility in the middle of the pandemic, little was known on which direction the pandemic would take. Kenya has endured it all but what remains a constant is that this disease is far from going away. While being sick is a mostly a natural action and somewhat uncontrollable, air should be the last thing we fight for. Covid-19 has shown us the value of family, the value of friends and why building relationships that stand the test of time. At the same time covid-19 has taught us the need for resilient health systems, support systems that citizens of any country can rely on.

At Ubuntu Hospital, we pride in joining the many hospitals what we have around the country in fight for a common enemy. But just like any startup, we face huge challenges mostly funding related. We pride ourselves in being a center of excellence of providing health service and our mission is to inspire hope, protect and contribute to the health and well-being by providing the best healthcare.

Today we stand here requesting you to help us beat this pandemic together with you. Here is our request:

• We need oxygen cylinders to enable take care of covid-19 patients
• we have 12 rooms at our disposal that we would like to convert to covid-19 isolation rooms and ICU for critical patients.
• We need 4 ventilators, defibrillators and patient monitors to convert 4 of those 12 rooms into ICU rooms

Today we start this campaign recognizing that in the middle of a crisis, human response and instincts dictate that we go on a self preservation mode, but this disease doesn't choose anyone according to status, race, age or color and its with this spirit we request you to support this cause. With this, we pledge not to sell oxygen to covid-19 for profit. We shall only charge an amount equal to the cost of refilling the cylinders.We are requesting you to help us help others. This is the time to save lives not for profit.

It is with the same spirit that we have lowered the cost of delivery for normal delivery from KES 18,000 to KES 5,000 for the next two months as the government reviews our infection rates. We have also partnered with Mumbuni Express Football Club to train youths on health, sex education and many other things to avoid the increase in teenage pregnancies in Machakos and its environs as they engage in sports activities.
