3 years ago our son Jason was admitted to hospital with Type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic auto-immune disease for which there is currently little understanding of cause and/or cure.
It has changed his and our life forever and he tests his blood glucose multiple of times by finger pricks and does insulin injections everyday.
We have manually been monitoring Jason's insulin levels and food intake carefully and doing ok until he hit a very bad low blood sugar (Hypoglycaemia) which gave us the fright of our life.
Since Jason was diagnosed we have been getting up every 3 hours every night to check his blood glucose. One morning we couldn't wake Jason up and then he started to get convulsions and was not responsive. Luckily we could administer some sugary cold drinks to him and in a couple of minutes he woke up.
We have decided to do what we can to get our son a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and/or an insulin pump.
The costs of these machines are a little beyond our reach and we are asking for financial support So that we can ensure that his Diabetes is managed to the best it can be.
