Two Weeks in July – Graduation Thesis Short Film

Synopsis:

Fleeing from a toxic relationship turned abusive, 34-year-old Ru-xin makes the cross-border departure back home to Malaysia, only to find herself in an irreconcilable state of estrangement with her homeland. As she struggles to move through her new life burdened by profound loneliness and a conflicting heart, Ru-xin begins to understand that her lack of belonging runs deeper than where she physically is.

Set in the year 2010, Two Weeks in July is a 15-18-minute contemplative short that explores themes of urban loneliness, self-discovery and what it means to live life for yourself.

We want to be able to tell this story and share on how everyone copes with loneliness in their own way and there's no hard and fast way around it. In this day and age people are often chasing happiness while happiness shouldn't come from anything external, but instead from within.
