Hi everyone, we are Joanna and Spyros!

Two siblings from Athens, Greece who study programming and accounting respectively and we own our family's century old stonehouse near Corinth.

The house is right in front of sea. It has great prospects and with the nesessary changes it could become a beautiful gem. However, renovation is not why we try to reach you. It needs immediate repair.

It is the only property we own and we need to save it before it literally collapses. All your help will be sincerely apreciated and rewarded. As an act of gratitude we offer our house for your next summer vacations in Greece.

What happened?

Our beloved house has been deteriorating for the last half a century. The outer sandstone walls have been slowly but increasingly erode. Many reasons for it. Salt water, strong winds, earthquakes and natural aging. Me and my father fix something, another two things break. Some components of this building are way over their half-life and we are trapped in a situation where we make 2 steps backward for every step forward!

The final blow came a few months ago when a strong wind blew off the roof tiles creating a hole 2 meter wide, among other things.

What is the solution?

My plan :

A) First, 2/3 funds will be used to buy materials for roofing. We begin to remove any broken tiles, bad insulation and replace with new. IMPORTANT. This must be completed before early Autum! A good weather is paramount when replacing roofs.

B) Secondly, the rest 1/3 of funds will be used to stone point the wall where it is nescessary to prevent further erosion and falling of stones.



Some technical stuff:

materials: polystyrene foam, roman tiles, thin sheets of plywood and exterior cement/plaster to point the wall. It will be made for the most part by me and my father.

• polystyrene foam insulation 6cm/ sq.m.
• waterproof tar membranes.
• nails.
• wood pillars
• wood sheets
• cement/plaster - 35-144 bags of 25 kg

Will it work?

Yes, with good and long lasting results .
The repair will prevent any further immediate damage and will preserve it for decades. My sister and I will be relieved to know that the roof wont fall to our heads and wont leak again for the next 20+ years. That joy has to be shared.........and I can promise you; We just cant wait to invite you to our restored home!
