Two Saints Gave Everything to Everyone, and Now they Struggle to Retire.

I am trying to help them do that.

It’s very hard to describe the good will of others without the been there heard that reaction. But let me try.

John & Joyce ARE Different.

They are two people that seriously put everyone first before themselves. John a carpenter, and Joyce a secretary - they would give you, a stranger, double of what they have in their pockets. And seriously would give their liver if they could. Joyce actually tried for her brother.

John is the type when his mother-in-law passed and he was selling their house, a young couple moved in. He gave them a handful of cash on selling day and said you need it more than me - good luck! He is the type who will do work for free to help a friend. He will also spend his Sunday cooking hundreds of meatballs to give out to family, co-workers, and friends. And when he plays the lotto, he always says, if he wins then his friends & family will not have to worry about money. He is also the type who tells me he wants to drive “old people” around to the grocery store, errands, etc. because he thinks they would love that.

Joyce is the type that will stay up late the night before someone’s birthday in her office to make them a meal or treat - and seriously does this for every person’s birthday in her office. She is the type that has pulled off the side of the road to save a cricket on her windshield so she didn’t hurt it. And will also no matter who you are, if she knows you have a wedding, baby or some big event coming up goes out of her way to get you something special. She thinks of everyone before herself. And if she doesn’t, she gets upset and worries that she didn’t do enough.

They are the type that both took in their 43 year old daughter, husband and two kids due to a transition they were going through. They also through the years have taken in John’s sister, their nephew, and some random friends that needed a place to live. They are both the ones that took care of their aging parents, not their siblings, day in and day out, and funded for any additional care they needed.

Through the years they have ALWAYS not only provided for their family, but helped those in need. They host holidays to the extreme, even if they had no money in their pocket, just to keep the family together and having holiday experiences like no other. They have refinanced their home, they have given friends in need money, they have housed people, they have done more than words can say. They are the glue of the family and friends.

LIke I said it’s hard to tell you why they are different, but they just are. Ask anyone.

They are coming on 68 years old and John still bangs nails for a living and Joyce files medical records. John has neuropathy and struggles walking, but he does what he has to do. They have a mortgage, no pensions, and bills to pay and live on. I truly think these angels do not have any regrets, but think it's time to do something for them.

I know other people are worse off, I get it. I am just trying to do something to give back to them so maybe they can enjoy their retirement years without the stress. Or go on a vacation they deserve. Or just take some time to themselves. Or just accept a THANK YOU for being them and all they have done for everyone’s path they have crossed.

Every dollar helps do that. They are saints that deserve a break.
