Turbos Cause

Update posted by April Murphy On Jul 30, 2019

We drove another 4hrs total today to bring Turbo home. He still has a long road ahead. Specialist said it is a “femur condyle fracture” he was able to repair the femur and the condyle ligament however there was significant damage to other ligaments in his leg. He now has physical therapy to do, life long joint problems and something called “cruciate ligament disease” . (Still reading the booklet given to us) BUT we will stay positive and he will heal properly and he will be our fun loving Turbo again! :)

Stitches come out on Tuesday and the bloody cone can come off then lol Turbo is doing well. He is walking a lot more on the leg, still holds it up and lumps on occasion. More xrays are needed this week as per the surgeon and then again at 6 weeks post op. Absolutely nothing is too small of a donation. Every cent is helping pay his expenses and in turn helping in his recovery. We are still at physical therapy, massage therapy and icing 3 times per day. It’s been a lot with 2 kids and working parents but we are doing it all to get our boy recovered. :) thank you ❤️

Turbo is starting to do better. He is still holding his leg up and stitches are still in for a few days more. He’s resting ALOT which is odd to see him like this. He is in pain but not like before. Physical and massage therapy 3 times per day as well as building up his walks no to 10mins 3x per day then icing. So he is getting there :) we are not looking forward to the costs coming for xrays but it’s something that absolutely needs to be done. Thank you for reading our story and even if you are unable to financially donate please know that sharing is very appreciated! Truly grateful to this who have helped and shared.

We rushed Turbo to the specialist in Espanola, ON. He said he had never seen a femur condyle fracture in his career like this only in their textbooks. When he opened up Turbos leg he was able to reconstruct the femur and the condyle ligament however he said that there were multiple ligaments that the damage was unrepairable. He did his best and Turbo will need rehabilitation therapy and the long term affects are greater due to now having a joint disease and arthritis will develop. he was awake after surgery and he is being watched carefully overnight. We have to drive 2 hours back out of town to pick him up tomorrow with an extensive post op care package, it’s going to be rough but our Turbo is alright and did not need to be put down :) so we are thankful for that!
