Greetings from The Tuna Bardos of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.

We are a Tuna, not as in fish, but Tuna as a musical fraternity and medieval tradition that comes from Spain. These young, smart, handsome, talented, and humble (of course), students would go from place to place playing folkloric songs and livening up the parties in exchange for that economic love that an awesome Samaritan like you can provide. The Tuna Bardos is a university student organization founded with the purpose of bringing together the university community and providing extracurricular activities framed in the spirit of brotherhood, using music as an instrument and vehicle for achieving these goals.

Our fraternity has been in charge of influencing students out of academic desertion, drug raiding, and the violence that faces our island. For 20 years we have influenced our members to pursue an academic degree, a decent job, and a decent life. We provide enriching experiences to these students such as learning how to sing and play an instrument, travel and compete in a foreign country, as well as intercultural exchange among the world's Tuna fraternities. For these reasons, we want to embark on a trip for this November to compete and fraternize with other Tunas in Portugal.

Our country faces an economic crisis which has caused an increase in our living expenses, such as university enrollments, rental costs, utilities, food and the reduction of government subsidies. Although, several members are both, full-time students and part-time employees, the economic conditions we face make it impossible for us to reach the necessary funds for the upcoming competition. We turn to you, our audience, fans and good Samaritans, with the intention of requesting your contribution. We are looking for a donation to help cover travel costs and expenses of 15 students and collaborators of our organization. We strongly encourage you to help us with our goal to provide the opportunity to transform the lives of our members.

If you want to know more about us, support or collaborate on a project with us, we encourage you to visit our website www.tunabardosupr.org or send us an email to [email protected]
