Growing up in a rural community, it is a rare occurrence that a young man obtains a high school diploma, let alone a college degree. I am an international student from St. Thomas Jamaica pursuing a Degree in Computer Science at Bowie State University. I am expected to graduate in December of 2016. I am the first in my family to strive for a college degree, which is a significant achievement for me and my family. My journey to this milestone in my academic career is attributed to hard work, sacrifice and the support of my family. Watching my parents working hard to provide for me and my siblings reminds me daily of the importance of obtaining an education. My parents constantly reiterated that the only chance to achieve a better life is through education. Growing up in a household where there was no access to technology, it was very difficult to understand the concepts of the computing area. In spite of this challenge, I had a strong desire to learn about computers. To satisfy this desire and hunger for knowledge, I dedicated my weekends and after school leisure time to reading and learning about new technological concepts.

For me to able to complete this task of finishing my degree, I will need help and support from friends, family and the Bowie institution. It is for that reason that I am creating this campaign to raise the necessary money to help with my tuition, in hopes that I would be able to keep my dreams alive of finishing school.
