My name is Aliff Zaqwan. I am an 18 year-old Malaysian student currently studying for foundation in law at a local university. I believe that I have been inflicted by the actions of a conglomerate based in the UK, Colebrand International Limited.
Last November, the director of Colebrand International who introduced himself as Sir Dr Nicholas Tusch offered my father to sponsor me to further studies in the UK during a meeting in London. The offer was also conveyed to me personally by Colebrand's representative, Mr Razak.
I was very excited upon hearing the offer. I've studied hard to maintain my grades and achieved 3.96 current CGPA. I have received offers to pursue a Bachelor's of Law at the University of Birmingham, University of Liverpool, Queen's University of Belfast and University of Leicester.
However, last April, my father emailed Dr Tusch to request for an official sponsor letter. Unfortunately, there was no response from him. After several failed attempts to contact Mr Razak, he finally responded by sending me an SMS stating that "The scholarship is only for employee and x employee". My father and I tried to email Dr Tusch several times to ask for a better explanation but received no response from him.
Of course, my family and I was deeply saddened by this news. Although I have decided to abandon my dream of pursuing education in UK, my father ensures me that he will try his best to sponsor my education himself. However, being aware of his current financial situation, I am not sure how that is possible.
This breach of promise by Colebrand has inflicted me by causing emotional harm as a lot of people, including my parents, teachers and friends are excited to see me furthering my education in the UK. I have also missed the datelines to apply for various scholarships from my country as I believed that I was already sponsored.
I would like to emphasize that I do not intend to humiliate or cause harm to any party. I just believe that it is my right to claim what has been promised to me and a successful company like Colebrand should always honour their promise.
For your information, I have decided to pursue a law degree at the Queen's University of Belfast which offers the lowest tuition fees. Thanks to a 2500£ scholarship I received from Queen's, my tuition fee costs 13900£ per annum. However, I am aware that it is still really high for my father to afford.
Therefore, I would like to request for your generosity to help me and my parents. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you very much for your donation.
