Tuition Fee for my PhD Degree

Hello and thank you so much for reading about my campaign. We all have such busy lives, that I am sure if you are making time to read this you must be a person with a kind heart.

My name is Ela and I'm a 32-year-old woman with one child who is about 5 years old. I’m from Asia and I finished top of my class in both my undergraduate and master’s courses with first-class honor back home and yet still I have struggled to find a good PhD position. Finally, I secured a PhD place at University of Liverpool, in the UK and I am studying about how the cardiovascular system changes and declines with age.

I have made the big and definitive decision to (legally!) come to the UK to study for this PhD, but I have no enough money to pay all my tuition fees. The fee is surprisingly high; £27k per year, but unfortunately there is no possibility of home funding and also the UK does not allow student loans for overseas students. I am working part time and my husband and father are working to pay my fees, but we need help. Of course we also need to pay to look after my son.

So, I am now a PhD student in Liverpool, and I am asking for your help! I will develop methods and skills to help automatically understand heart function.

The rise of lifespan is an important subject in human populations all around the world. Although it has received the least public attention, aging as a dominant risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases will affect in the structure and function of the heart and also, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Thus, I intend to research about how cells in the heart become old, to deploy my findings around the world for the benefit of millions of patients with cardiovascular diseases associated with aging, to prevent early aging in people's heart to live a longer and healthier life and to enjoy their life very well.

I only have about one month to pay my tuition fee. If I cannot get any financial support and aid, I will lose my PhD position, the chance to learn the latest skills related to my project and contribute to ageing research and also, I must return to my home country. So, I cannot see that having no enough money will prevent me from continuing my study and research and reaching my goals, because I really love studying and discovering about new scientific ideas.

I really appreciate you because of any donations even if it’s very low but it closes me to reach my goal sooner.

If I am successful, after my graduation, when I get full-time work, I pledge to help other students who are in need for their tuition fees like me to reach their own goals.I am keen to be a University teacher myself, in time. When I was only 15 years old and at my undergraduate time university, I volunteered as a teacher in the computer lab to help students learn the computer basic concepts which I hope helped them to enter the careers they chose.

Please help me financially to reach my goal in studying and researching on this project, to relieve my financial pressure and help me to focus on my research and my child’s education with more confidence.
