TUITION ASSISTANCE

The words of the Bible states: “Ask and it shall be given unto you”. It is only with asking that a person can receive help.

Greetings one and all. Thank you for opening your minds and hearts to receive my story. Some of you may know me personally; some may not. I am Kersha Hamil-Lannaman; a former prep school teacher from Montego Bay. I recently resigned from my job to embark upon a new journey by furthering my education in Canada.

When I was leaving Jamaica I had all hopes that things would go smoothly. However, being there with the pandemic going on, things took a turn for the worst. My husband and I decided to leave as businesses were forced to close. We could no longer work to help sustain ourselves. Adding to that, we had no family there for extra support. And so, we came back to Jamaica.

Fast forward to 2021 where I have just completed my first year of online studies; eager to begin second year. With my husband back to his regular transport job (which does not pay similar to pre-covid) I had to assist to make ends meet. I took a call centre job while juggling the hectic online school. I could no longer continue as it was interfering with my school hours and completing assignments. Thanks to a good friend who referred me to tutoring two students. I was happy as I was now earning something no matter how small it is. I decided to save it to put towards my second year tuition.

If we were in Canada my husband would be working full time while I would be working part time. To make matters worst, I received an email from NCB and a text from NHT that I needed to settle my arrears soon or else. I was now left between a rock and a hard place. And so, I have to other option but to use my tutoring salary to pay both arrears. The same money that I was saving for my tuition.

I really don't want to be a burden to anyone because I know that you have a family to fend for. And with this ongoing pandemic things are rough for a lot of persons. Therefore, I kindly ask of you, whatever amount that you are able to find I would be more than grateful to accept as a little goes a long way. As we say in Jamaica: “every mickle mek a muckle”. Thank you so much for reading my story and for your kind donation. Also, if possible, please share it with a friend. God bless!!

PS: If you are willing to make a donation you may send it to either of the following accounts as this platform (GoGet Funding) charges a fee to send and receive donations.
