My Partner and I were having a picnic with my Grand Son around Christmas time in 2019 (Dec 24th) and we started talking about some research I had discovered about the Corona Virus being developed in Hunan, China. Joy and I visited China in 2016, and had a conversation about developing 'Countermeasures' technologies. One of them was the concept of a new kind of face mask that would help people fight off the vectors (vectors are air-borne viruses, etc.), could be repositioned/removed for eating/drinking, or removed for cleaning or to allow medical treatment. We discussed the obvious problems associated with wearing facial covering, e.g., discomfort, muffling the speaking voice, having to remove the appliance to eat and drink., etc. Through the course of the picnic we discussed these points and each of us presented ideas as to how problems could be solved while still providing protection from the vectors (viruses), eating, improving sound, etc. See a short video of the first prototype of the "VATTSMA" (Voice-Activated Talk-Through Safety Mask Appliance) being used in January 2020...published here for the first time... There were three (3) specific take-away's from our picnic conference. These were:

1. Eliminate 'muffled speech level' as result of mouth being covered and sounds being dampened:

2. A means to allow users to eat, drink or speak openly to other persons without removing the face covering;

3. Create a removable voice-activated electronic voice amplification component that can be re-used in similar appliances, resulting in savings to consumers and health professionals, e.g., doctors, nurses, every-day people, EMT's, Law Enforcement, etc.

4. Our target-price was under $20.00 Dollars, once orders reached a 'break-even-point' (which has turned out to be $4.00 in quantities above 10,000). So, once in production...and with large orders, we will be able to make this technology available for under $10.00. The standard N-95, without our upgrades, is selling, online for $9.95! We can cut that price in-half, add our value-added voice-activation/amplification features described above for about the same price to consumers, and still be under $10.00 Dollars.

We were so excited, we decided to file a US Patent Application in support of our ideas, as we were not able to find any 'prior art' that does exactly what we teach in our Patent Application!! That is very exciting! You can search it for yourself at www.uspto.gov, just key-work 'face mask', and you will see all the patents issued since 1859 that speak to face coverings.
