My name is Rebecca Kroll, I'm a single mom in Carbondale, PA. Many of you have seen me on Facebook, and have commented on my photography and liked almost all of them. I've been a photographer now for about 13 years, first only as a hobby then it gradually turned into a great passion. My dreams of becoming a professional photographer has grown exponentially within the last few years.
I'm 35 years old, and my top 3 passions are writing, art and photography. Many people who know me know that I am down to earth, passionate and love with all of my heart. Some might say I'm a bit old school and I try to find the beauty in the ugly things. I'm also hard of hearing in both ears, and I wear hearing aids. I enjoy going for walks with my 12 year old son – always taking my camera just in case I come upon something. Usually my son will be my subject, and he never complains!
The kinds of photos I do take are landscapes, floral, people, animals, and much, much more. I've been published in the local newspaper and have been featured on the local News station here where I live. It's not about the popularity I want, which isn't what I'm looking for. It's the ability to share with everyone the beauty that can be seen from things that most people aren't aware of, and to share fascinating facts about each object or subject of the photo. To me, everything has a story, whether bad or good, and I want to be able to share my creativity with everyone.
I've been wanting to save up money for a new camera, since the one I have is outdated, and doesn't have all the features/functions I need to take amazing pictures. This camera that I own is a point and shoot digital camera, and although it has provided great pictures, I've been been wanting to expand my potential with something a bit better. The camera I have in mind is either going to be a Canon or a Nikon – with interchangeable lenses, and with all kinds of cool features. I haven't decided on any one particular kind – but I do know that this camera will be within the $300-800 range. Why such an expensive camera? Well, I do have a purpose for this: I intend to go to a community college to get a degree in photography, and learn everything there is about photography. That kind of course usually requires having a decent camera like the one I mentioned, with all the bells and whistles. I intend on educating myself with different types of cameras, functionalities and everything else.
My biggest dream is someday travel abroad to take photos of the world, and have them published for all to see. But for now, to start with, I'd be happy with taking photos of any kinds, and hopefully sell my services to the public where I live. I'm hoping to raise about $1,000 – here is why: First and foremost, the kind of camera I'm interested in will be the bulk of that money, then the rest will go towards whatever else that will accommodate the camera like possibly more lenses, a camera bag, memory cards, batteries etc. If I raise more than the allotted price – I will put it towards my community college funds which will help me get that much closer to my dream.
I'm going to share a few photos that I've taken, and I hope you will enjoy them. This is a huge passion for me, and I'm eager to share these with the world. Be sure to check out my Photography page on FB to see all the photos I've done.
