Trying to pay rental arrears

I am going through some financial troubles and I am 28 years old and I have a two year old boy, I am trying to find all the help I can get and I keep getting turned away from city agencies that usually help in these situations. It has become increasingly difficult to find an agency that is willing to help now as new york city has been loosing all of its fundings for rental assistance programs. My husband works but doesn't make enough to support us, and I am a licensed childcare provider. Its been a difficult road trying to find work in this economy. My husband had suffered an unfortunate stab wound in December 2011. He was out of work for a 6 weeks and we ate through our savings In the beginning of the year. I had a city subsidy called working advantage but it was cut off with no warning at the end of march. We have been tied up in court proceeding since that time and we haven't recovered. I have been having so much difficulty finding parents who need childcare now and we have until October 15th to Make up our rental arrears... I am hoping that some of you can find it in your hearts to help, I already went through the shelter system once with my son and I don't want to put my son through that again...
