Collen he’s a transgender-identified South African and he have already been working/Volunteering as an artist and activist in his township and surrounding areas for some time through various LGBTIQ+ organisation, NGOs. He is an experienced visual artist and activist. He did lots of community work to implementing change in local communities. Fighting for justice and equality are one of the high points he have amongst others. Collen’s new body of work Tittle: Inguqu/Transformation has been selected for exhibition in Nigeria.

Inguqu/Transformation is a photographic series that addresses Collen Mfazwe’s struggles as he becomes himself in today's society. Inguqu/Transformation follows the narratives of a black trans man as he navigates his way within a largely transphobic and misogynistic society.

This is a life time changing opportunity. Collen is particularly interested in further pursuing opportunities which allow him to broaden his photographic skills and film making. For LGBTQI people in South Africa, sharing their stories always carries a risk and requires courage. Young queer people are particularly vulnerable as they often do not have adequate support structures.

This project aims to create a safe space for people to tell and share their stories and experiences and also to provide a form of community through creative participation.

Collen set this up to ask family, friends and community to help him get to Nigeria for an exhibition.
