As many of you are aware, the globe is experiencing the greatest movement of refugees since WWII. These humans are being forced from their homes as they escape war, prosecution, famine, drought, political repression, abuse and the list goes on.
Many are arriving from Turkey to the Greek Island of Lesbos. They arrive terrfied, distraught, and wet.
Thousands arrive daily, needing the most basic of basic things: food, water, shelter.. and something we always forget and take for-granted: SHOES.
Shoes protect us from the cold, the wet, they give our feet shelter and enable us to walk without suffering from blisters, infection or stepping on dangerous objects. Many arrive to Lesbos after having walked across deserts, mountains, plains for weeks - many need to continue they journey elsehere, they can't stay in Lesbos or Moria - it's impossible to rebuild you life in such a place.
Let's raise some money for shoes and dignity for the people arriving in Lesbos..
I will be taking part in a triathlon this June, this is a HUGE challenge for me, and I'd really appreciate anything you can give to the cause! All the money raised will go to REFUGen, the international Eco-Network charity which is currently in Lesbos helping those that arrive to the Island after crossing the Aegean Sea.
If you would like to get involved, join the triathlon, or collect donations for Lesbos, get in touch!
