Triathlon for Gorkha Development Scheme

I am attempting my first triathlon on the 22nd July, quite a challenge for me as I have had to learn how to swim again! I have been training hard over the last 12 weeks and am nearly ready for the big London Triathlon!

I am doing this for the charity I am a trustee of, Gorkha Development Scheme, a charity most people know I am very passionate about. We raise money for the Gorkha district in Nepal to fund various community projects such as sponsoring children to go to school, improving school services and providing sports equipment, hygiene programmes, medical electives and funding medical equipment for the local hospital.

The money from this event will be going towards funding oxygen concentrators for the hospital. They currently are provided with a certain number of oxygen canisters, but cannot get anymore until all of the canisters are empty. Once they run out they have to wait at least a week if not more for them to be delivered. If a patient comes in to the local hospital and needs oxygen, if they are unfortunate enough to come between deliveries it can be the difference between life and death. The next closest hospital is 5 hours away in Kathmandu or Pokhara, so options are limited! The oxygen concentrators would ensure that there is always a ready supply of oxygen for patients coming in at any time.
