Hello everyone! :)
It’s Shannon here! A 24 year old South African about to embark on a trip to the Himalayas in Nepal, to do a 14 day trek to Base Camp Mt. Everest (Eeek!).
You can join me in using this opportunity to raise funds for a charity close to my heart, Bophelo Care Centre.
What’s it all about?
Bophelo Care Centre is a home that cares for abandoned, abused and neglected babies and children.
It’s situated in Kimberley, South Africa (my little ol’ hometown) and since their doors opened in 2004, they have provided 172 babies with a home.
What exactly do they do?
The home functions as a place of safety.
The word Bophelo means LIFE. Their MISSION is to provide a child in need of care and protection with a stable home.
They need your help because…
Taking care of children is costly (I’m sure all you parents out there can relate).
To get an idea you can see their NEEDS LIST on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pg/BopheloCareCentre/about/?ref=page_internal
Although they are receiving some funding from government and donations from the community, they are operating at a loss of about R30 000 (+-2300USD/ 17 800HKD) per month. In other words, they really need your help.
So, how YOU can help, in a small, practical way…
by making a small donation,
you will instantly be making a big difference,
and motivate me on my climb up to Everest :)
Because every child deserves a safe home, and if you have the power to help, why not?
Peace and love,
* I will be funding all the costs of the trip, and 100% of donations will be given directly to Bophelo Care Centre.
