Trekking for Tiny Tots

Hello everyone! :)

It’s Shannon here! A 24 year old South African about to embark on a trip to the Himalayas in Nepal, to do a 14 day trek to Base Camp Mt. Everest (Eeek!).

You can join me in using this opportunity to raise funds for a charity close to my heart, Bophelo Care Centre.

What’s it all about?

Bophelo Care Centre is a home that cares for abandoned, abused and neglected babies and children.

It’s situated in Kimberley, South Africa (my little ol’ hometown) and since their doors opened in 2004, they have provided 172 babies with a home.

What exactly do they do?

The home functions as a place of safety.

The word Bophelo means LIFE. Their MISSION is to provide a child in need of care and protection with a stable home.

They need your help because…

Taking care of children is costly (I’m sure all you parents out there can relate).

Although they are receiving some funding from government and donations from the community, they are operating at a loss of about R30 000 (+-2300USD/ 17 800HKD) per month. In other words, they really need your help.
