Treatment of Amblyopia accessible for all

Amblyopia (lazy eye) is the decrease of vision in one or both eyes due to abnormal vision development during childhood. The vision process involves both the eyes and the brain. Amblyopia is the failure of the vision-sensing portions of the brain to develop normally, which results in blurry vision. It is one of the leading causes of vision loss in children.

Amblyopia is generally the result of poor early visual development. It usually occurs before the age of 8. Infants born prematurely or with low birth weight are at a greater risk for developing the condition.

An estimated 2 to 4 percent of children have amblyopia. The chance of amblyopia developing during adulthood is very small.

Problem

There are many ways to treat a lazy eye.
Modern technologies allow treating this disease in a game form, which is especially important for children.

As one of the most common causes of visual impairment, amblyopia affects nearly 3 percent of the population. It occurs as a result of improper brain processing, causing the weaker eye to be suppressed by the stronger eye. People with lazy eye will not be able to focus properly with one of their eyes – the eye with impaired vision (amblyopia) will not receive clear images.

Treatment options for this condition include patching the stronger eye to make the weaker one work more. However, this form of treatment has only been successful in children.
Playing the lazy eye game requires information to be sent to both eyes, making them work cooperatively. By making both eyes cooperate, the amblyopic brain is able to relearn as a result of an increase in the level of plasticity in the brain.

The patients who played the game with both eyes experienced significant improvement in their vision of the weaker eye after only two weeks.

Unfortunately, most of these services are to expensive and available only in the doctor's office.

Using VR to treat binocular visual disorders

Like the amblyoscope, the VR headset allows direct independent control of separate images for

the two eyes. It's more effective than old technologies and more safety

Decision

Our team set a goal to create a computer game that is designed to treat a lazy eye. The game will be developed for Oculus Rift VR,HTC VIVE, Sony Gear VR
Now you do not have to wait in line for the doctor's office but simply download the game from our website (currently we develop our website, demo will be available 1 December 2017)

Advantages and current limitations

Like previous computer-based methods such as the HTS Amblyopia iNet program, VR treatments can automatically adjust the level of task difficulty, tracking the patient’s ability as it improves, and does not require constant supervision by the clinician. But in addition, the treatments can be made immersive, and much more fun for patients to do. The promise of good adherence, together with recent literature on perceptual learning in adults, is stimulating a great deal of new research and development in the use of VR to treat binocular disorders in both children and adults. The best uses of VR for treatment are undoubtedly still to be discovered, but there is now sufficient cumulative experience with VR systems such as Vivid Vision to see that VR will become a permanent feature of the treatment landscape.

We will run blog here, and as we get some amount of money , we will write here kind of road map, what will be done and what was done

We will continue our reaserch to make the treatment of a lazy eye maximally accessible to all
