We believe that this is a highly significant and serious issue that needs to be solved because, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression is a condition that is growing at an alarming rate. Some Stats: Depression affects over 18% of the US population, which is over 57 million people in the US alone. Over 80% of people that have symptoms of critical depression are NOT receiving any specific treatment for their depression. The number of patients diagnosed with depression increases by approximately 20% per year. In estimate, 121 million people around the world currently suffer from some form of depression.   Why Our Program:  1. Easy Accessible. We created a system that people can use simply by downloading the full program to their computer. It will allow people the opportunity to treat their depression on their own by only using the program. No doctors. No medication. All they need to do is to follow “The 3 Simple Steps” each day to achieve results. 2. For Everyone. All that this system has is “The 3 Simple Steps” that were created so that any gender of any age can use it. Even the kids, after a crazy day at school, will benefit. Perhaps you are a student during finals or a woman going through a divorce? This program can help.   About the System. Proof of the Method:   This system was developed on the studies of the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). In a study, published December 1, 2008, in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, MBCT proved as effective as maintenance anti-depressants in preventing a relapse and more effective in enhancing peoples' quality of life. (Read more at http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/11/081130201928.htm )   The study was led by Professor Willem Kuyken at the Mood Disorders Centre, University of Exeter, in collaboration with colleagues at the Centre for Economics of Mental Health (CEMH) at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, Peninsula Medical School, Devon Primary Care Trust and the Medical Research Council Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit.   How it Works. Some Principals:   Many of the exercises were based on Buddhist meditation techniques and helped the individual take time to focus on the present, rather than dwelling on past events, or planning for future tasks. The exercises worked in a different way for each person, but many reported greater acceptance of, and more control over, negative thoughts and feelings.   So “The 3 Simple Steps” program is a version of the MBCT program that was established in a way that people would be able to experience the same effect using this system at home by simply following the steps.   MBCT was developed by a team of psychologists from Toronto (Zindel Segal), Oxford (Mark Williams) and Cambridge (John Teasdale) in 2002 to help people who suffer repeated bouts of depression.   This program shows that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is effective as an anti-depressant medication. That’s why we decided that it is an amazing and life-changing program that needs to be delivered to those who suffer.About me: My name is Ann Grosh. I was born in Siberia and now reside in San Francisco. I earned my Masters in Graphic Design and Communication at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2012. Since then, I’ve been an enthusiast who dedicates my life to helping others in dealing with mental problems. I believe that somewhere in between the East and West there is knowledge and practice to help people deal with most mental and health problems. So, for the past three years, I’ve been traveling all across the globe collecting knowledge to establish this program. I spent a year in the Himalayas learning from His Holiness, the Dalai Lama XIV, as well as spending time in Europe to learn the latest studies of mindfulness-based therapy. I believe that by spreading this unique method to people that we will be able help some of the 121 million people suffering a little happier and healthier. Together.    What we have by now: We have already created the full system. It’s 100% done. The system was made and simplified by the group of enthusiasts from universities that were listed above (in “About the System. Proof of the Method”). It took us two years to research, create, polish and finalize all the details for this Non-Drug Treatment Program, “Treating Depression without Drugs”. Now it’s finished!   What we still need:   1.      Make a 4 page website. We think that by using the internet we will be able to more effectively share the system with those in need. Also, the website will inform people about the therapy methods and show proof of the system. We think that it is very important because it will help people believe that they can fight against depression and win. 2. Record “The 3 Steps”. People would be able to simply download it and start using it immediately from their home. By doing this we hope to reach the 80% of people who already have depression but are not receiving any specific treatment at the moment. What would you get by helping us? 1.
