Travel with a purpose: Philippines

Hi Everyone! My name is Ed, an IT Operations Analyst by profession and a Filipino budget travel blogger (aka One Armed Wanderer, www.edpuno.com). I started solo travelling last year when my friends started having their own families.After my first solo travel in Banaue Rice Terraces, I have decided to explore my beautiful home country, The Philippines.

I've been blogging for quite some time but it was only last year I decided to seriously document my solo travels. To date, I've been to 14 out of 81 provinces of the Philippines. I know I've got a long way to go but I am determined to fulfill my goal - to travel my entire home country.

During my solo travels, I've came to realize how blessed I am for having things that I often take for granted (having a job, a comfortable home) and realized that there are countless of Filipinos that need help. It was during my recent solo travel in Mindanao where I decided that I need to help (even in my own little and simplest ways) any local in the province that I am visiting. Then there comes "Travel With A Purpose Project".

Campaign: Travel With A Purpose Project
I am launching a section on my blog entitled "Travel With A Purpose" where I will help a certain local individual, groupor family in the province that I am visiting. My purpose is to bring smiles to the faces of the people those in need and bring at least tempopary joy and happiness. I will document these on my blog's "Travel With A Purpose" section to encourage my readers that travelling can be more meaningful and memorable if we give and help out people.

First Destination
This coming August 5, me and my girlfriend (Yes! I'm not solo traveling this time) will visit Islas de Gigantes- a beautiful and breathtaking island chain in the municipality of Carles, Iloilo, Philippines. Since Islas de Gigantes is a group of islands, We are helping several locals specifically fishermen who earn a below minimum wage (Well, that's the case in all parts of the Philippines). We are planning to buy clothes for the fishermen, toys fir the kids and if we have a spare money, grocery items for their families. Since this will be my first time to launch this project, I know that there will be challenges. One of which will be the funds to make this "Travel with A Purpose Project".

I would be more than happy to have your support and join my very first "Travel with A Purpose Project".

P.S. I'll be updating everyone thru this page and on my blog (www.edpuno.com). Travel Expenses will go to the donations for the Islas de Ginantes fishermen and their kids. :)
