I was recently invited as a South African representative to attend the annual World Federation of United Nations Associations Youth Seminar being hosted in Kamplala, Uganda from 22-24 November 2017. The topic of the conference will be how youth organisations can work to effectively to implement UN Resolution 2250 at a local level in their respective countries. This aims to empower young people to take part in decision making at a national, regional and international level.

I hope to go to Uganda to both offer a South African perspective to the discussion but more importantly to bring back practical knowledge and skills that can help build youth civil society in South Africa to promote peace and development in our society. Africa is currently the youngest continent on the planet with nearly 40% of its population between the ages of 15-24.

In the 21st century this fact will either be an obstacle or an opportunity to the continent. My vision is to see young people become agents of change rather than recipients of handouts. I believe this seminar can equip me with the necessary skills and network to make a meaningful contribution to youth civil society in South Africa, Africa and abroad.

As an undergraduate student my funds are very limited and in order to represent South Africa at this platform I need your help. I am therefor appealing to the crowdfunding community to assist me in this endeavour.
