THIS NEW PROCESS COULD REVOLUTIONISE TRAUMA RECOVERY SO WE ARE AIMING TO RAISE £20,000+. FUNDERS WILL BE GRATEFULLY ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE DOCUMENTATION.

At the not-for-profit Soul Happy Wellbeing Centre in Peterborough, we are pioneering a new method to help people recover from severe trauma. All the trauma recoveries we have done have been a resounding success. The recipients, all rape-victims have said that this process has enabled them to reclaim their bodies and lives from the terrible after-effects of the trauma, including restoring their dignity and self-respect, where many other approaches have failed. In the first 3.5 months we have done 6 trauma recoveries, totalling 149 hours of practitioners' time, paid for largely by ourselves by giving our time and space for free. Sadly at this point we can do very little further work until our time can be paid-for.

TESTIMONIAL: “This was a life saving treatment that has helped me get my life back and the trauma is finally becoming just a memory as the deep painful emotional wounds that have been causing havoc in my life are now healing... ... from a trauma that has been causing a tremendous amount of pain and torture in my life for 30 years.”

TESTIMONIAL: “The results of the treatment have been profound and liberating; it provided me with the inner strength I needed to reclaim my life after the trauma.”

TESTIMONIAL: “I have never felt such massive amounts of relief and empowerment, it is easily one of the best and most beneficial experiences of my life. I am now able to know that the rape happened but it no longer affects my current way of being.”

The clear importance here is that, without a proper recovery, the after-effects of trauma can blight people's lives indefinitely, consciously or subconsciously. For example feeling worthless, constantly scared and weak, which also often lead to further problems such as depression, anxiety and self-destructive choices like substance abuse. We have found that our method has something innovative and unique to offer in solving this problem and that the results speak for themselves.

TESTIMONIAL: “I had tried counselling, holistic and other healing methods which had really only made me bury my pain and suffering to make it easier to scrape by day by day. I had not returned to a normal state of health, mind or strength. My normal state was suppression and false-happiness, not health.”

TESTIMONIAL: “However, though I had tried to overcome the trauma through various other methods, they only buried the pain and I still found myself triggered by certain situations or people. Therefore, I was left with overwhelming feelings of worthlessness, shame, and despair that often resulted in maladaptive self-destructive coping mechanisms. The practitioners offered a unique solution to recovering from my trauma. Their approach differs to the standard treatment in that it focuses on processing the experiences and empowering the victim, rather than simply managing the symptoms or suppressing the memories.”

We are uniquely placed to develop and deliver this new method due to our combined experience in the diverse fields necessary for proper recovery. Our method goes way beyond counselling/psychotherapy and seamlessly integrates:

  • resilience building
  • emotional/energy reinvigoration
  • self-defence
  • meditation
  • proven principles about the nature of the self and fairness
  • physical integration of antidote intentions
  • re-empowerment
  • capability building for dealing with subsequent confrontations eg legal proceedings and facing difficult interactions

It works ultimately by re-empowering the victim to cope with what happened, rather than by suppressing the memory and after-effects. The process is intensive enough to actually counteract the intensity of trauma.

Our legitimacy comes from the fact that we have all recovered from our own traumas using this method.

Usually people don't “just get over it” with trauma because unlike simple pain, trauma forces the victim to internalise and normalise harrowing after-effects, which can become deeply ingrained in the body in the worst cases. Proper recovery requires the identification of and antidote to those after-effects. That is why the process can take typically 10 to 25 hours including consultation, preparation, the main session and aftercare. The main costs of this are reasonable remuneration for two practitioners the expenses of the not-for-profit venue. So for example a typical recovery package would cost £1300. It should be noted that this is a one-off cost and still far less than the typical alternative cost of years of counselling. However in this economy many people cannot afford that amount in one go so are asking those who are able to help those in need.

TESTIMONIAL: “The incredible amount of time, compassion, and energy the practitioners offer cannot be matched in other treatment modalities, yet was absolutely necessary for my full recovery.”

The epidemic of rape and other traumas such as domestic violence, combined with low and still-declining state provision means that people are turning to us to help them recover from trauma. We want to make this available to those who do not have the means to afford the costs, therefore we then need to turn to the public to enable this service to be provided. We have already provided some recoveries by paying for them largely ourselves, by giving our time and space for free. However it is not practical or fair for us to continue to do so. Therefore as much as we want to help, if we couldn't raise these funds, then we would have to stop providing this vital service, including that we would have to turn away those who have already requested help.

We also aim to document our process in order to share our knowledge and successes with other stakeholders and supporters.

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to donate, please note that the website is a little unclear. Your donation will be one-time-only as long as you simply don't tick any of the options boxes for the regular donations.

Our current funding goal is £20,000. However we could still do significant (albeit much more limited) good with less. Furthermore if we can raise more than that then we could bring forward our longer term aims to be more proactive about growing the service. The examples below illustrate this range of how funds would be used.

  • £5,000 would enable us to:
    • provide for the 4 firm requests that we already have in the pipeline, who urgently need our help.

We need this £5,000 ideally by May 2018 as we have people urgently needing our help and we cannot provide these services without funding.

  • £10,000 would enable us to:
    • provide everything previously mentioned
    • plus fund up to another 5 trauma recoveries depending on the complexity of the cases
    • plus document the benefits and techniques of our process to share with others

We need £10,000 ideally by June 2018 to meet the level of active enquiries we are getting about our service.

  • £20,000 would enable us to:
    • provide everything previously mentioned
    • plus fund up to another 5 trauma recoveries depending on the complexity of the cases
    • plus train 2 more people to deliver all aspects of trauma recovery
    • plus enable further development of the process

We need £20,000 ideally by August 2018 to enable us to do proper forward planning in relation to our ongoing everyday costs.

  • £30,000 or more would enable us to:
    • provide everything previously mentioned
    • plus upgrade our facilities and building to better meet the demands of a growing
    • plus offering enhanced related services such as tailored self-defence classes
    • plus start securing the long term future of this service with proactive outreach.

Thank you for your interest in supporting our pioneering process.

If you are in a position to do so, please help us deliver this good and vital work, by donating what you can.
