My sister and nephew, Letitia and her son, European - Romanian citizens, are traumatised and in the constant run. The man who was her husband for the last 15 years, now is taking his REVENGE, as to why Letitia, ''stand up'' for herself as a woman and a mother.

Letitia's life story is sad and complicated. It's probably the story lived by the most non- Muslim women married to Muslim men, women who do not dare to put an end to such a marriage.

Letitia married, an Egyptian citizen, in 2008 and they have two minor children together: - 15 and - 11 years old. The marriage was officiated under Romanian law, at the Romanian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Soon enough, Letitia lost hope of having a family based on the principles she believed in as a European-Christian- Orthodox, and everything turned into a nightmare. Her only role was to take care of the household and children, with no right to work, without being entitled to her own opinions, disrespected and devalued as a woman. Her, older son, took after his father (despite he is also abused), while the youngest got closer to his mother, suffering with her for the physical and mental abuse she was subjected to, daily, by his father.

Miraculously, in 2019 si was allowed to come to Romania with her younger son, to see the family, her mother being in poor health. Once in Romania, Letitia dared to start the procedures for divorce and custody, temporarily obtaining upon the completion of the divorce the minor son residence at his mother’s house in Bucharest, Romania.

In January 2021, being emotionally blackmailed by her eldest son who remained in Abu Dhabi with the father, she made the mistake of giving up the trial, under the pressure of her husband. He promised her that in exchange for the withdrawal of the divorce application in Romania, after returning to the Emirates, they will discuss and find an amicable way with the promise of giving her the ''right to freedom of movement'' by travelling to Romania.

Unfortunately, once she arrived in the Emirates, her husband took Letitia and her son travel documents, leaving them in a rented house without money and food. He started the divorce proceedings under local law and pressed criminal charges against her. Having no right to work there, the only chance of survival for Letitia is through donations offered by good people. More than that, since the 6th of November 2021, the youngest son, was taken by his father to his home and he does not allow the mother to see him, especially because according to Sharia Law, when turning 11 on the 20th November, his father becomes his guardian.

Consequently, there are four legal procedures currently in the Court - Abu-Dhabi- United Arab Emirates:

Falsely accused by Letitia husband with fabricated evidence,

  1. The appeal in the criminal case sentencing her to six months in prison for insult and slander against Islam;
  2. Criminal case initiated by the father against the wife and the mother, accusing her of abandonment.
  3. Ongoing divorce process under Sharia Law - United Arab Emirates- Abu-Dhabi
  4. In Romania, the divorce proceedings started in 2019 and continue.

Letitia's situation is extremely serious: she went back to the Emirates with her visa expiring on the 24th of October, but she is not able to leave the country because her husband, being her sponsor, did not cancel her visa. The Consulate refused to issue a travel document for the repatriation of the minor without the father’s consent, the child’s Romanian passport being abusively retained by the father. The child cries and threatens that he would run away from his father or commit suicide if forced to stay with him.

All the legal procedures that must be followed both in the Emirates and in Romania require financial resources that neither Letitia nor her Romanian family has.

Letitia's only chance to fight for her rights and her son is only the donations of people who sympathize with their desperate situation and wish to help them.
