Hello everyone,

I'm in need of your help to purchase transportation for my family and I.  Let me tell you my story.

After being laid off and unemployed for two years, I drove my 1990 Chrysler New Yorker with taped up windows, mirrors, head lights and tail lights, from California to Georgia. Relocating my family to be closer to my eldest brother who has progressive Alzhiemers.  We had no incidents and made it all the way.  I found a job two months after moving here.  It was a temp job and lasted three months and then was laid off again. After being in Georgia for one year, I went to register my children for school and met up with an ex co-worker who was there to register her little one for school.  She and her family were walking in the pouring rain, so I offered them a ride home.  When we get to the car, I notice my lights were left on.  I needed a jump.  I got one and when my car started, I was asked to jump another woman's car as she sit in the rain.  I did.  From the moment that woman drove away, I was in trouble.  I lived less than 3 miles away and had to go another 5 miles to register my high schooler. I dropped my ex-coworker off and headed to the school, however we never made it.  My car all of a sudden blacked out and started acting as if it were going to cut off. Two miles from my house the car did cut off. I called a neighbor who came to jump me. It wouldn’t stay started for 50 feet. We jumped it every block until it just wouldn’t stay running without being connected to her cables. She finally pushed me home and her bumper was ruined, but she was not upset. One week later I got a job. I got a ride to work and a ride home every day for those six months. With my income tax I was able to get my car fixed. First I bought a starter, that didn’t work. Then I bought a new battery, that was not the problem. I then bought an electronic component for the vehicle that was suppose to arrive in 1 day. It went from Albany Georgia to Phoenix Az. and then back to Georgia in 6 days. When it arrived it was the wrong core. I had to pay to send it back. They resent the correct one. It arrived a month later from the initial purchase and was a bad part. No refunds. My daughter working her part time job bought me a refurbished part from Auto Zone. The car ran for one day. Then on my way to church broke down on the side of the road. Another neighbor came to get me. This went on for six months with two Mechanics trying to figure out what was wrong.

Finally one Mechanic ran down the issue and the issue was a $6 piece of wire. The car was finally working. I drove it for 4 months and then had a car accident. This was in June 2013. My car was totaled but the other car had a nickel sized dent on the metal bumper and a bit of chipped paint. I was hurt, but no one else was. After the accident I was left with $240. Not enough to buy me any transportation. Since then I’ve been walking to the bus stop ( which is two miles away) in the early morning, about 6:15 a.m. Catching that bus to the terminal and waiting for a second bus which then takes an hour to get me to work. I finally make it to work at 8:30a.m. Work there all day and then the same thing on the way home. I get off at 5:15 to catch my bus at 5:25 p.m. Bus gets to terminal at 6:19 and I catch next bus at 6:30. Dropped off at 6:45. I then walk 2 miles and make it home at 7:40 p.m.

What I haven’t told you is that I can’t stand on my feet once I get home. I have heel spurs on both feet. I limp all day every day without walking, so this has only made things worse. To make it even worse I’m a single mother who can’t even take her kids to the doctor or get there myself because I’m a temp employee. Temps get no paid time off. We don’t get holiday pay or sick pay. We get holidays off, but no pay. I couldn’t even go to my little one’s teacher parent conference because of the distance I work, so I had to do that over the phone. I’ve been at my temp job now for 17 months now. At my job, the temps weren’t even allowed to attend the Christmas party or invited to the onsite luncheon that took place at the job. I live in a place I can’t afford but I try. Due to my low income and little child support I am always late on my rent. Once I get the rent paid for the month, another month rolls around. I wash clothing on my hands every day so that me and the children have clean clothes to wear because we don’t have a washer and dryer and no one to take us to the Laundry mat.

It’s the beginning of the new year and tax season. However because I’m always late on my rent or falling short, and have to pay for house repairs when needed, I owe my landlord $3200. Guess where my income tax is going? Just as last year, to the Landlord.

Having this all said, I couldn’t purchase a better vehicle last year and this year I won’t be able to purchase a vehicle either because I’m basically in the same position. Needless to say I can’t move because that also takes money.

I have only enough money to buy a few hundred dollars worth of groceries a month for my family. In todays society that isn't alot, but we make it be enought. I am so happy to say that I receive NO government assistance. I do this all myself for my children because I have to.

I need your help to purchase a good reliable vehicle for my family. As a woman I know its dangerous to walk in the dark be it morning or night. But I have to do what I can to take care of my family. By the grace of God I have been safe.

I’m not looking for anything new, just something that runs well that I don't have to make payments on because I need insurance and I can't afford to do both.  Insurance is a MUST.

Thank you for reading my story and understanding my struggle.  What ever you can do to help me will be appreciated by my family and I.
