Transport for Hope

The Villa of Hope is a compliant Non-Profit-Organisation registered with the Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Center. We focuse on the provision of superior care to those children who have been orphaned or require alternative care due to abuse, neglect, abandonment and children that are affected or infected by HIV and AIDS or other ill circumstances.

We presently provide residential care for children who have been placed by organizations such as Johannesburg Child Welfare, Childline, CPU, SAPS and DSD.

Whilst in our care, the health, safety, emotional, psychological, educational, spiritual and physical needs of our children are catered to in a loving environment. The Villa of Hope has 20 three bed-roomed houses which includes administration/reception offices, early childhood development center, learning center, library and social services office. These require on-going maintenance and upkeep.

Through the generous support of individuals, families and various companies, the Villa has helped hundreds of families and vulnerable children and aspires to help many more in the future.

There is a principle in our community, “it takes a village to raise a child”.Villa of Hope was established in 2003 with a vision to reduce child abuse and neglect within the surrounding communities while promoting values that can be used for the remainder of their lives. For the last 15 years the organization has provided children with a loving and attentive environment.Caregivers and staff who work with the children consider this a calling and a privilege. They recognize that these children are the literal and true future of South Africa.

As this organisation continues to make contributions in our children’s lives, we still face challenges. Currently the bus being used to transfer 63 children to and from school on a daily bases is in need of repair and is maintained on monthly basis which has become a very costly exercise. It has served the community greatly over the past years but needs to be replaced now in order for us to give the children the education they deserve.

Some of the comments the children have made regarding the bus are that it’s too small, unsafe, and it stalls on the road. Our goal for this campaign is to raise 650,000 R in order to purchase a new bus.
