Hello! My name is Timberly Höök, I am 22 years old and I live in Sweden. My dream is to become a nurse, but before I start studying I must focus on my mental health.
I am a transgender woman and have been self medicating with whatever female hormones and testosterone blockers I can afford or get donated. The transgender health care in Sweden is failing and the waiting times are years. I've already waited 2 years to start my "investigation" with a gender team and have now been talking to psychologists for a year. I am expected to get the diagnosis "transsexualism" later this year and then my transition will start legally. The waiting times for surgeries are years long and I feel like I could use some help by anyone who freely wants to donate.
Depression is a daily battle and I am currently tapering an antidepressant called Venlafaxine (Effexor). It does more harm than good, It gives me horrible withdrawal symptoms (brain zaps, brain fog, blurry vision, panic attacks, night sweats, nightmares, 0 energy and I feel disabled. I have tapered from 150 mg to 37,5 mg with the help of people from a Facebook Support Group. Doctors are unaware of all the effects it has on the brain and body and tells you to stop the drug in 2 weeks, but it's simply not realistic or possible without suffering in every way possible. My mind and body is dependant on it and I need longer time to taper and recover from this drug. Effexor shouldn't be legal to prescribe. I wish my Doctor told me about a good diet, exercising, yoga, therapy, processing the death of my father without unnecessary medication to numb the inner self.
I wish to afford one important surgery before my life is over and that is Voice Feminization Surgery with Dr. Antonio Ballestas. This surgery will relieve my voice dysphoria and make my overall life easier. It will make me blend into society easier without people turning heads whenever I open my mouth to speak. It will be beneficial for me when looking for jobs as many employers reject transgender women, and one of many causes can be because they don't pass. I don't pass because of my voice. My physical appearance is still changing with hormones, but my voice will not.
The Voice Feminization Surgery includes a package of (quoted from Dr. Antonio Ballestas himself via Whatsapp):
- Hotel with breakfast included.
- All clinical expenses with medication and a suite for one night at the hospital.
- Blood tests.
- Anesthesiologist fees.
- Surgical assistants fees.
- Voice therapist fees that will help with voice therapies via Skype for two or three months depending on ones progress.
- Inner transportation.
- Bilingual companion.
- Dr. Antonio Ballestas fees.
This package cost 6000 € (EURO).
If I succeed to afford this truly life-changing surgery, I will document it on my YouTube channel. If not, any donation will be kept in a savings account until my goal is achieved in any way.
