Campaign Story
Hello good people,
My name is Sema. I'm a 20-year-old trans woman living in Izmir, Turkey.
As you know, Turkey is not a lgbt friendly country. It's one of the hardest places to live and be accepted as a transgender. It's really sad when you find out that it's not an easy task to be a straight woman (considering the homicide and rape statistics by gender), imagine being a trans woman. Most of the trans women in Turkey are being discriminated, getting killed or forced to be sex workers.
I've been fighting for my rights for several years now. I got fired from my job, was forced to drop out of school and my own family rejected me. I got beaten up for a couple of times and even considered quitting and killing myself. But after all this, I'm still hopeful for the future.
I am now trying to save money for my surgery in order to get a female ID card. But as it is seen, in these conditions it's not easy to access. For that reason I'm asking for your help.
I want to be able to get a job, rent a flat and most of all, be accepted. I'm not saying I deserve better, I'm just saying I deserve a normal living just like every other human being.
Thanks for your support!
