Transgender engineering student’s surgery

Hello,

I am a junior engineering student from Turkey. I am 22 years old and I Identify as transgender from the very early ages. I always knew myself, however I waited for the right time for my surgery. In Turkey, gender discrimination and violence against transgender people is a very serious, and, sometimes, life-threatening problem. So I first had to decide if I really want to go through all of these pressures. But now, as a grown young woman, I know that I should accept myself and go through transition surgery to live as a happy and successful person.

I know it will not be an easy path, but I have a dream to become the first transgender engineer in Turkey. I am an emotionally strong person, so I know I will not give up easy when I encounter a couple of challenges. I want to do this, not only for myself, but also for other transgender people living in Turkey, who are discriminated from the society and forced to live their lives as sex workers to finance themselves.

Since I am a student, I am not earning enough money to save for my surgery. Living in İstanbul is very expensive, and I have to spend all the money I earn to pay for my rent, bills, educational expenses and grocery needs. My family lives in southeastern Turkey and their financial situation is very poor. So I have to take care of myself and find a way to cover my surgery.

During my experience, I have met many beautiful and friendly transgender people in İstanbul. Most of them had their surgery in Turkey. And unfortunately, they experienced a lot of problems related to their urethra and vaginal depth. They had to go through a lot of revision surgeries to have a healthy vagina. And some still do have problems unfortunately. So I want my surgery to be conducted by professional surgeons in Thailand, where sex reassignment surgeries have most successful results.

My life is not very easy at the moment. And to complete myself, I need professional surgeons. Unfortunately, it is financially impossible for me right now. It is just a beautiful dream, which I hope to turn real in the future.

Regardless of the amount, I would be thankful to you throughout my whole life, if you can support my campaign. You first need to complete yourself, to obtain the self-power to help others that are in need. If you make my dream come true, I will have the self-confidence to live a good life, and help young members of my community who need guidance and support.
