SUMMARY
Teenage pregnancy is a serious problem in Tanzania, and the numbers of unwanted teenage pregnancies are rising. Statistics tell us that they increased from 23% in 2010 to more than 27% by 2016. This means that by now almost one third of teenage girls in Tanzania are subject to teen age pregnancies. These are pregnancies that are in most cases unwanted, and which often come as results of gender violence and sexual abuse.
MISSION AID ORGANIZATION (MAO) is an independent Non-profit institution/organization situated at Mwananyamala Minazini, Dar es salaam, block No. 10, Plot No 583 with registration No. 00NGO/R/046. The organization operates in Tanzania Mainland. The main aim of its establishment is to empower, promote, mobilise and motivate people with disability, elderly, women and children in Health, Social and Economic affairs with the view to create a human friendly livelihood in the communities at all levels.
MISSION AID ORGANIZATION (MAO) want to provide information and support to make teenage girls aware of their risk and educate them and to inspire the creation of more medical, legal and social help for victims of sexual abuse and teenage pregnancy
CHALLENGE
- lack of awareness and lack education.
- lack of security in many environments where drugs, violence and crime are constant threats.
- There is a serious problem with gender inequality resulting in lack of respect for women by many males within the family, and in many institutions of society where women are viewed as less important or of less worth than men.
One of our victim is Halima Yahya(20), who lives with her father (Yahya Ramadhan) and her two children in Kilimanjaro, Kambene village. Her mother passed away when she was very young, so the only person who takes care of her, is her father. Halima has mental illness lead to people took advantage of her illness by sexual assault and impregnanted in age of 14 and second in the age of 17 which made her drop out to school and she can't multitask because of her illness. She has two children needs to be take care of and her father is old
SOLUTION
The society needs to know that early pregnancy is serious but should not mark the end of lives of these young fox and their dreams. There is life after everything and that is why Mission Aid Organization is aiming at constructing THE SECOND CHANCE HOME in five (5) zones of Tanzania which are Central Zone, Coastal Zone, Lake Zone, Northern Zone and Southern Highlands Zone where these young girls will have a second chance to amend/ achieve their dreams. THE SECOND CHANCE HOME is a package of Hostels, Classes, department offices (Psychological, legal, health, education), organization office, dining hall/meeting hall. The centres will provide.
- Education (Vocational skills and formal education)
- Basic needs
- Medical assistance and Health services
- legal services
Your donation could stop a young girl in Tanzania from committing suicide, street children, maternal death, higher dependency ratio, drop out from school and instead giving her a reason to think of pursuing her dreams through second chance home
Let’s change the sadness in their stories. They need me, they need you, they need us.
