Hello my name is Toyvon Campbell and it is my dream to Attend and complete college. As a young black man in America the odds have been stacked against me from birth. You see although my parents were married; my father could not adjust to being a husband and a father, he left when I was only 1 year old. My mother worked hard to instill in me a sense of purpose in this world. She taught me the importance of education. integrity, being responsible for actions, but most importantly she introduced me to God, My father tried to make amends, but died in Oct 2016 before we could meet in person. Things have by no means been easy for us, and my mother has made more sacrifices for me and my brother than I can say. When I was in grade school one of my teachers told me that i should not think about college, she said people like me do better in trade school, although, I was a straight A student. I knew at that moment I was going to college and show her and people like her that I am more than what they see. I am currently a A&B student at Perpich Center for Arts in Minnesota. While attending Perpich I experienced racism that would have made anyone else give up. Matter of fact the other 3 young black men who started with me did give up, I've had things happen like being followed by security, because they didn't believe I was a student, casted as a monkey in a play, and countless other instances, No matter what happened I was determined, matter of fact at times I demanded that I receive the education I came to Perpich to get. Now despite all that has happened and all I have gone through I'm graduating HS in June and with your help I will be attending a college in California. I was accepted into every college I applied to, but getting in is half the battle. I need your help to MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE!!! PLEASE DONATE AND SEND ME TO COLLEGE!!! GOD BLESS!!
