Toro-Tshoho is a revival and continuation, its recreation is to encompass and fuse in a multi-disciplinary, and dimensional art genres, these to be delivered by a quartet of South African born artists;
Moeketsi Koena (Dancer and Choreographer),Nico Phooko (Fine Artist and Live Art Performer), Karabo Mohlala (Composer and Musician) and Lawrence Hlatshwayo (Percussionist and Poet), all South Africans. The artists bring into the creation of their personal artistic identities to be closer to their own experiences and to understand the differences or similarities in their cultures and rituals, to also study the developments of culture and tradition in today’s life.
OBJECTIVES
To create a body of performance art and exhibitions.
Stage live performances of the multi-discipline art production in various
spaces; theatres, art galleries, museums and outdoor spaces.
To stage production in international platforms and hold residencies.
To begin to understand one’s purpose in this life journey as human. Also convey the importance of the journey of the self to the physical and the non-physical.
To produce a 3-in-1 package; Booklet, DVD (Performance) and CD
(Soundtrack).
DELIVERABLES
Toro-Tshoho is undergoing an extensive metamorphosis, this through artistic
residency where the subject matter is thoroughly interrogated,
researched and this is to culminate into the following key deliverables;
Workshops [Masterclasses]
o Dance [Pedagology & Philosophy]
o Visual Arts
o African Drumming & Percussive Rhythms
o Winds Instrument & Music Notation
Toro-Tshoho Live performances and showcasing
o Local Platforms - theaters, museums, outdoor, and other
alternative venues.
o International Platforms – Tour the production to international
festivals and residency invitations.
Art Exhibition
o Installation of Artworks developed during residency and stage
performances
o Music created from the production.
o Short video of live performance.
Music Concert
o Perform music created from the production.
o Projection of Pictures of production live performances.
o Music performances by Toro artists, three of whom are also
musicians.
Digital Performances
o Live Streaming of Performances [Social Media Platforms].
o Available on Demand Screenings [Internet Platforms].
