Hello to the person reading this, I would like to tell you a little bit about my story. My name is Alkım, but of course Alkım is not written on my ID yet, and even a gender that my soul doesn't belong to is written in the gender section. Yes, I am a transgender individual. While the majority of people feel that they belong to the gender of the body they were born in, I am not in the body that I feel I belong to yet, like all trans people. How can a person complete the rest of his life when she/he can't even feel his own body? Something is always missing. After that shower you take every day, she/he gets dressed quickly without looking in the mirror, because that body doesn't belong to her/his. Unfortunately, not all problems are limited to this. There are some difficulties that come with living in Turkey. In our country, where traditionalism and some restrictive thoughts are dominant, it is quite possible to see inhumane treatment as a trans person. If you are a transgender person in such a country, let alone society, it is next to impossible that even your family who gave birth to you, accept you with complete respect. This is where I need your help. I can no longer continue this struggle that I have been giving to myself, my family and society for twenty-four years. After years of efforts, I completed my legal process and had one of my surgeries. However, I currently do not have the financial means for my mastectomy (breast removal) surgery. Bu yazıyı okuyan kişi merhaba, sana biraz hikâyemden bahsetmek istiyorum. Benim adım Alkım, ancak elbette kimliğimde henüz Alkım yazmıyor, hatta cinsiyet bölümünde de ruhumun ait olmadığı bir cinsiyet yazıyor. Evet, ben transseksüel bir bireyim. İnsanların büyük bir çoğunluğu doğduğu bedenin cinsiyetine kendini ait hissederken ben de büyün trans bireyler gibi daha henüz ait hissettiğim bedende değilim. Bir insan bedenine ait bile hissedemezken hayatının geri kalan parçalarını nasıl tamamlayabilir ki? Hep bir şey eksik olur. Her gün aldığın o duştan sonra aynaya bakmadan hızlıca giyinir, çünkü o beden ona ait değildir. Bir de bütün problemler maalesef bununla sınırlı değil. Türkiye’de yaşamanın da getirdiği bazı zorluklar var. Gelenekselliğin ve bazı kısıtlayıcı düşüncelerin baskın olduğu ülkemizde trans bir birey olarak adeta insan dışı muameleler görmek oldukça mümkün. Eğer böyle bir ülkede trans bir bireyseniz toplumu bir kenara bırakın sizi dünyaya getiren ailenizin bile sizi tamamen saygıyla kabul etmesi imkânsıza yakın. İşte tam da burada senin yardımına ihtiyacım var. Yirmi dört yıldır hem kendime, hem aileme hem de topluma verdiğim bu mücadeleyi artık kendim sürdüremiyorum. Yıllardır süren çabalarım sonucu yasal sürecimi tamamladım ve ameliyatlarımdan bir tanesini oldum. Ancak şu an mastektomi (meme aldırma) ameliyatım için maddi gücüm yok. Sen de benim hayatımda bir şeyleri değiştirip biraz da olsa bu mücadelede yalnız olmadığımı hissettirmek istiyorsan bu bağış kampanyası aracılığıyla yardımda bulunabilirsin.
