Tools for Success

Seeking money from strangers is not something that I've wanted to do, and this is difficult for me because I'm not a seeker of pity, or charity, but it's time I accept that I need help.

A little about me:

I'm the one who has worked for everything I've ever wanted. The one who has stood by silently while my friends received wonderful presents for Christmas (not that they didn't deserve them) while some years, my tree remained gift free. I don't blame my parents, they did the best that they could, and were they still around their pride in me would be the best gift I could ever desire. 

Despite my secret envy, I've always put these feelings behind me, forging my own path, and building my own life from the ground up.

I've supported myself for the majority of my life, and I have a lot to show for my hard work; a reliable car, a beautiful apartment, a job that I love, and an understanding boss that supports me throughout all of my academic ventures (for which I am eternally grateful).

Working in video has been a dream of mine since I was twelve years old. I can literally remember the precise moment, and the exact feeling I had, when I realized what I wanted to be when I grew up. Twelve years later, and I have slowly but surely made it. In less than one year I will be graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Audio and Video Communications. I plan on earning my Masters degree, as well.

Herein lies the problem. Though I'm going to be graduating with honors, it has been especially hard for me to go through my program without a camera to shoot my assignments, or a computer to edit on. I have checked out cameras from my school, and spent hours in the lab to make up for this. However, every job that I look into requires the use of "your own equipment", and there will not always be a camera to check out, or a lab to utilize. Once I graduate, I will have debts to pay, and it will take a long time to buy these items on my own.

On that note, I am seeking funding for my own DSLR camera, and a Mac computer. Any amount, and I really mean any amount, would help. All I can offer is a letter of thanks for your generosity.
