Hi. I’m Raymond Rosales. I have been very blessed to have a caring father who has been very supportive and sacrificed so much to help us reach our goals in life. Since I was a child, I always observe him waking very early in the morning to drive the jeepney. His job would usually make him spend more than twelve hours for he would oftentimes go home late in the evening because of his work and go out early the next day for the same reason. He has been very responsible in looking after our welfare despite his busy schedule and has been very supportive with every endeavor that we take. Being the second among the four siblings made me see how important it is to be a father and how difficult it is to be one. I always admire his courage and sacrifices that is why I want to emulate his positive ways of being a father to the future family that I will have.

Last February 2023, our family has been challenged by a sudden twist of event. We needed to rush our father, Antonino “Tony” Rosales to a nearby clinic for he suffered breathing difficulty. Several tests laboratory tests were done including chest x-ray and urinalysis. Several medicines have also been given with the attempt of curing him. The attending physician said that it would take about three months for him to recover for he was diagnosed with heart enlargement and pneumonia based on the former test results. We’ve also tried other local healing practices with the hope of helping him heal and went to several churches to pray for his fast recovery. After a month of observation, and continuous medication, we have noticed that instead of improving, his condition almost didn’t change. Though he would oftentimes claim that he is strong, we could obviously see that he is struggling. He can’t sleep flat on the bed. He would usually sit for he finds it hard to breath and cough so hard that he is already gasping for air. His legs then started to swell which alarmed us even more. Seeing his difficult condition made us decide to see another doctor. With this attempt, we didn’t see any improvement either. We then sought for another doctor outside our city. This doctor advised us to have him confined in a nearby hospital to fully check his condition.

Last April 12, 2023 we then had him hospitalized. At first, he didn’t want to for he is thinking of the expenses, but we persuaded him and told him that everything will be just fine. Though things are uncertain, we told him that everything will be okay. We sought for different lending agencies to cover the initial expenses. Several tests were then done including 2D echocardiogram, Urinalysis and X-ray. After a day, some of the tests made his situation clearer. He was diagnosed to have hypothyroidism which is contributory to his heart condition. His heart seems to enlarge because of the water that enveloped his heart. Several tests are still being done to fully assess his condition. He has already undergone a minor heart operation to drain the water that envelope his heart. We have already seen improvement in his body. His heart sounds better now compared to how it sounds a week ago. The process is not yet over for he is estimated to have several months to about a year to fully recover. We are very happy for this improvement but at the same time saddened by the piling hospital bills that needs attention.

Unfortunately, the amounts we borrowed from the lending agencies can’t suffice his daily hospital needs. We have already looked for government agencies to help us aid our expenses but still, a large amount still needs to be paid. Our meager salary won’t be enough to cover all the expenses for his hospital bills and medicines, and his recovery expenses. With just several days at the hospital, the bill has already skyrocketed to more than 100,000.00 pesos or more than 6,000.00 dollars, excluding the doctor's fee, and is still to go higher on the coming days. There are still a few more days of stay in the hospital for we are still waiting for the other results and there is still a continuous monitoring on my father’s heart and overall health condition. The doctor said that his condition is still risky for we don’t know yet the other causes of his condition and if there are still other things that must be checked. We would really need all the help that we can get.

We try to be happy and positive, but the uncertainty is still present.

Our family will be very thankful for your great kindness and generosity in supporting us in one of the darkest hours of our lives.

Please help us save and help our father recover.
