For my Tonsillectomy

Update posted by Erick dela Cruz On Jul 13, 2020

Finally, after several months of suffering from agonizing pain by my swollen tonsil caused by Tonsillitis, after several weeks of waiting for my swab and laboratory results, after several days of preparing for my operation, and after several hours of performing the operation.

Finally I made it. I am already done with Tonsillectomy.

To those people who supported me thru donations and prayers. To those people who motivated me and keep me sane before and during the operation. To my family and friends especially my girlfriend who is with me from the start of this journey, who is with me in the hospital taking care of me until now that I am in to recovery. And to the God up there.

To the love and support from the people who I know and to those who I don't even know.

THANK YOU!
This won't happen without you. Words is not enough to express how grateful I am.

The result for my swab specimen is not yet available for about more than 1 month. They don't know what happen since it is outside the RHU. They think because of the volume of specimen way back. The RHU decided to get my swab specimen again. Since there are additional accredited laboratories now.

Hoping for the fast and negative result of swab test.

Last May 02, 2020, I undergo with COVID Antibody Test IgG IgM (Rapid Test) and it turned out to be both non-reactive.

On May 04, 2020, my follow up consultation. After being negative on the Rapid Test we are now on the next procedure.

I need to be tested with PCR test to directly detect the presence of an antigen mainly SARS-CoV-2. It is part of the standard operating procedure during Covid-19 outbreak. Once the result is negative it will be green light for my operation. I also need to perform some laboratory test like, CBC, CXR, ECG, Crea, and FBS.

While waiting on the result the doctor prescribed medicines to reduce the inflammation of my tonsils since it will make the operation easier if the tonsil is smaller in size.

Hello everyone, I’ll be posting updates regarding my condition and consultation.

Today, I went to my EENT doctor for my consultation and the doctor prescribed the following. A higher dose of antibiotic which is Levofloxacin, the last and the highest on his list, throat spray, and anti-allergy.

But before taking the last two antibiotics that I had, the doctor already recommended removing my tonsils. Since we are in Enhanced Community Quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic during that time the doctor suggested the operation should be after lifting the ECQ.

We are trying a higher dose of antibiotics to cure my tonsillitis at the same time to delay the operation as much as possible because I am a high-risk patient because of the coronavirus outbreak. And also the doctor together with his colleagues will be at risk when performing the Tonsillectomy in the hospital.

So what will happen if the antibiotic doesn’t work and the ECQ is extended, that will be the deciding factor to perform Tonsillectomy even there is an ECQ and coronavirus outbreak.

As part of the precautionary measure for the operation, I need to be tested using COVID Antibody Test IgG IgM (Rapid Test). To determine whether I have anti-bodies fighting the novel coronavirus. So please read it carefully this is just for the precautionary measures to ensure I don’t have COVID-19 before the operation.

The doctor recommended the Bulacan Medical Mission Group Cooperative Hospital (BMMG). The said hospital is also taking care of the COVID-19 related case. But the doctor strongly said that the BMMG is equipped and trained to handle patients with or without COVID-19 related cases.

Next check up: May 4, 2020

Thank you for all the prayers.
God Bless.

First of all, I would like to thank all the people who showed their support. Like what I've always say "Walang maliit na tulong, lahat malaki". Every share counts, ever amount counts, every message counts and every prayer counts. It really gives me strength and reduce the negativity in my mind. Honestly, every time I receive your message I get teary-eyed.

I can't thank you enough for all the help. I hope someday we bump each other and I say thank you personally for what you have done. The world is blessed to have you.

God bless you all, stay safe.
