Hi everyone I hope you're all safe, healthy and coping with what’s happening in the world.
If you’re a friend of mine, you probably aware that I’ve been suffering from tonsillitis.
I had my first tonsillitis on February 1st and I thought it was an ordinary swollen tonsil like what I’ve experienced last year (2019). After a week of finishing my antibiotics, tonsillitis came back. The doctor prescribed me a different antibiotic. This time I get better, until February 29 when it came back. That’s my third case of tonsillitis for the span of one month. The doctor prescribed again different antibiotic, it gets better whenever I take the antibiotic but when I finished it, it came back. Sad to say March 9 it came back my 4th case.
It causes me anxiety, it really gives me a hard time sleeping thinking it will come back again and I’ll be suffering from tonsillitis. The pain of swallowing when having tonsillitis gives me fear because I can’t eat, I can’t talk, and I can’t sleep. It really makes you weak physically and mentally. The fourth case was unforgettable. I can say that this was the worst of all tonsillitis I had. The only time I am able to eat was when I take a pain reliever, I can’t even finish my meal even it is just soup. Even swallowing my own saliva gives me unexplainable pain. There was a Peritonsillar Abscess. I started to have a muffled voice, my neck was swelling, I am having a hard time breathing since it blocked my airway and sometimes ear pain.
Until my Peritonsillar Abscess burst, the pus inside came out and I have to spit it until there’s no pus coming out.
That’s the time the doctor said that I have recurrent tonsillitis. The doctor recommended my tonsils to be removed in order for my tonsillitis to don’t come back. Antibiotics are no longer an option since it came back after I finished taking it.
I badly needed surgery to remove my tonsils. Unfortunately, I can’t afford the surgery and recovery since it will cost 2,000 dollars or in the Philippines 100,000 pesos. I have government health insurance but it can’t cover the surgery. My health insurance can be only used as a discount when staying at the hospital.
I am already an orphan since 9 years old, my parents died in the same year 2006 due to complications because they have diabetes. I am second among three siblings. My younger brother is still studying, while my older brother stopped working due to the Coronavirus outbreak. He was working in a hotel and it was affected. The establishment need to lay off their employee.
I am currently working as a Software Developer, but my salary is just enough for us to sustain our daily living and a small amount of savings especially this time of lock down. I can offer to teach the basics of how to create a web application and mobile application in return since this what I am doing in my job.
I know it is embarrassing to ask for help, I knew it because back then we are asking for some help to send us to school, but this is the only thing I can do right now.
Thank you very much, in the Philippines we say Maraming maraming Salamat.
