Campaign Story
Support for professional cinematographer, photographer and reporter Tom Duggan's epic adventure to travel via motorbike throughout the Middle East and North Africa visiting war affected areas speaking to the people living the reality. The goal is for Tom to travel to four different war-torn areas, spending approximately 3 months amongst the people on the ground in each region. Tom is an experienced front-line correspondent and has extensive first responder training in this field. His dream is to bring to the world the stories of real people living in crisis as a result of war.
A no-frills budget trip is planned, with Tom traveling on his motorbike, staying with local people, collecting and sharing their stories to document and report life at ground zero. He has managed to gather most of the equipment needed for his journey including cameras and vehicle, but needs our help to ensure he has appropriate medical equipment and money for fuel and food. This is a budget trip and we are asking for approximately US$1,000 per month to keep him on the road.
About Tom: An Englishman living in Damascus, he is married to a beautiful Syrian woman and has been there with her throughout much of the current war. Tom is an experienced at front-line war reporter and has also been a volunteer emergency medic during his career. I am 100% percent supportive of Tom's dream and can vouch for his good character as a professional and a gentleman. I will be supporting him to fundraise and help publish his work from my home in New Zealand. Due to sanctions, Tom is not able to fundraise from Syria, and cannot begin his journey without our help. I will be managing the campaign from NZ and sending the money directly to Tom via Lebanon and Sudan.
