Together we save two hearts

Ioana Eliza (11 ani) şi Darius Ioan (8 luni) sunt doi fraţi minunaţi din comuna Suharau, judeţul Botoşani, care îşi doresc să crească împreună şi să aibă o copilărie fericită. Din păcate ambii suferă de aceeaşi boală cardiacă, care le-a răpit anul trecut, in octombrie, fratele de 9 ani.

Mama nu ştia de existenţa acestei boli cardiace, Sindromul QTC prelungit, până când a fost la Bucureşti cu băieţelul cel mic pentru investigaţii suplimentare fiindcă se născuse cu o găurică la inimă.

Sindromul QTC prelungit reprezintă o anomalie în funcționalitatea electrică a inimii, care poate cauza bătăi foarte rapide și periculoase sau chiar unele aritmii, printre care cea mai frecventă este torsada vârfurilor, ca răspuns la suprasolicitare, stres sau exerciții fizice. Aritmiile pot conduce spre lipotimii, sincope, iar în cazuri mai grave, la moarte subită cardiacă. Sindromul QT lung congenital are o frecvență de apariție mai ridicată decât tipul dobândit; din cauza unui defect genetic care codifică funcționalitatea canalelor ionice este încetinită repolarizarea, iar intervalul QT se alungește.

Ambii copii au nevoie de implantarea unui defibrilator, un dispozitiv care detectează bătăile anormale și descarcă la nevoie impulsuri electrice, șocul împiedicând instalarea morții subite cardiace. Urgenţa o reprezintă implatarea unui defibrilator Ioanei Eliza, micuţul Darius putând fi operat abia după împlinirea vârstei de 1 an. Din păcate în sistemul de stat lista de aşteptare este lungă si timpul îi este inamic în această situaţie. Suntem în discuţii şi negocieri cu cateva spitale private din ţară care efectuează această operaţie şi sperăm ca foarte curând să putem pleca cu mama şi fetiţa la controale suplimentare în vederea intervenţiei. Până în prezent costurile estimative ale deplasărilor, investigaţiilor, cazării şi o parte a investigaţii se situează în jurul sumei de 6000 de euro.

Ioana Eliza (11 years old) and Darius Ioan (8 months old) are two wonderful brothers from Suharau commune, Botosani country, who want to grow up together and have a happy childhood. Unfortunately, both suffer from the same heart disease, which abducted their 9-year-old brother last October.The mother did not know about the existence of this heart disease, the prolonged QTC syndrome, until she went to Bucharest with the little boy for further investigations because she had been born with a hole in his heart.Prolonged QTC syndrome is an abnormality in the electrical functionality of the heart, which can cause very rapid and dangerous beats or even some arrhythmias, among which the most common is the twisting of the tips, in response to overload, stress or physical exercise. Arrhythmias can lead to lipotomy, syncope, and in more severe cases, sudden cardiac death. Congenital long QT syndrome has a higher occurrence frequency than the acquired type; due to a genetic defect encoding the functionality of the ion channels, the repolarization is slowed and the QT interval is lengthened.Both children need the implantation of a defibrillator, a device that detects abnormal beats and discharges electrical impulses when needed, shock preventing the installation of sudden cardiac death. The emergency is the implantation of a defibrillator to Ioana Eliza, the little Darius being operable only after reaching the age of 1 year. Unfortunately, in the state system the waiting list is long and time is enemy in this situation. We are in discussions and negotiations with several private hospitals in the country that carry out this operation and we hope that very soon we will be able to go with the mother and the girl to additional controls for the intervention. So far, the estimated costs of travel, investigations, accommodation and part of the investigations are around 6000 euros.
