we are a non profit Organization located in the Bronx borough of New York. The organization was initially established for the purpose of helping the education of children and youth in Low-income communities but after a critical observation of Hunger issues facing children and people in The Bronx, our focus has shifted more to Feeding the hungry by joining hands with New York Food Bank Organizations to serve and distribute Food to Elementary schools and Hungry people in our Communities. More than a quarter-million people in the South Bronx are living in poverty, making Rep. Jose Serrano’s 16th Congressional District the poorest in the nation, according to the U.S census Bureau. The South Bronx had 256,544, or 38%, of its residents living below the poverty line, the new county-by-county Census stats show. The figures are worse for children, with 49% living in poverty. The Center for American Progress think tank broke down the Census numbers by Congressional district and ranked the 10 with the highest poverty rates. This poverty line in the Bronx federally qualify us to receive free or reduced-price school lunch. This is equivalent to one out of every three school children in the county – a staggering statistic. And school meals may be the only meals these children eat. Many go hungry over the weekend and when school is not in session. Our new Project (ACN FOOD PANTRY) will:

1). Distribute Food to Day Care and Elementary Schools every Thursday in our areas for the weekends which we have named “Backpack” program.

2). There will be monthly distribution of Fresh and Frozen Food to people in our communities as well.

3). We shall organize Soup Kitchens for the Homeless through the Summer and beyond.

This letter is a Fundraiser asking for Financial Contribution to support us in the purchase of basic needs such as REFRIGERATOR, FREEZER, SHELFS, PALLETS and SPACE RENTAL totaling a budget of $9,820.
