Din pacate, in ultimele luni, din ce in ce mai multi oameni au fost diagnosticati cu cancer. Ce este si mai trist este faptul ca am aflat si despre foarte multi pe care ii cunosc, prieteni, copiii prietenilor, fosti colegi si lista continua.

Unul dintre ei este Ionut Nan – prieten si fost coleg de facultate care a absolvit Academia Navala “Mircea cel Batran” din Constanta, in acelasi an cu mine in 2013.

La inceputul lunii Noiembrie 2018, Ionut a mers sa isi faca o ecografie, de rutina, intrucat cu cativa ani in urma avusese gastrita hiper acuta care degenerase in ulcer. El a fost tratat la vremea respectiva. La scurt timp, atat el cat si mama lui au fost nevoiti sa treaca hopul cel mai mare de pana atunci. Tatal lui Ionut a fost diagnosticat cu cancer si din nefericire a pierdut lupta cu aceasta boala necrutatoare, intr-un timp relativ scurt. De atunci, Ionut a ramas stalpul familiei. Dupa o perioada, Ionut a observat ca pierde din greutate fara a tine o dieta anume. Initial, a pus totul pe seama celor petrecute in viata lui, dar acea ecografie din Noiembrie avea sa ii anunte cel mai mare hop! El este foarte optimist, stie ca va fi bine! Sa il citez: “Nici nu ma gandesc sa nu trec peste acest hop !”

Ionut urmeaza tratament cu chimoterapie la Spitalul Fundeni in Bucuresti, dar prietenii il ajuta sa se transfere la Spitalul Universitar Acibadem din Atakent, Turcia, intrucat medicii de acolo sunt specializati in tratarea diferitelor tipuri de cancer. Din pacate, In Romania i se administreaza chemoterapie standard, cu alte cuvinte, nu primeste un tratament care sa vizeze tipul lui de cancer. In schimb, in Turcia, medicii de acolo ii vor face toate analizele necesare sa identifice exact atat tipul de celule canceroase cat si stadiul si viteza cu care acestea evolueaza. In functie de cum va reactiona corpul lui la tratament, se va decide daca transplantul de stomac este cea mai buna solutie.

Din pacate, raportat la salariile din Romania, atat costurile interventiei chirurgicale cat si tratamentele si analizele ce vor fi facute acolo, vor depasi cu mult economiile si posibilitatea financiara a familei lui Ionut. De aceea, in incercarea de a-l ajuta am deschis aceasta pagina de strangere de fonduri unde prietenii, colegii de facultate si de serviciu, familia si toti cei care vor sa ajute, vor putea transfera bani care ajung direct in contul lui Ionut. Orice suma conteaza si va ajunge exact unde este nevoie!

Sadly, in the last couple of months, the number of people diagnosed with Cancer has increased dramatically and what’s even more devastating is that I recently found out about people that I know: friends, their children, former Uni class mates and the list continues.

One of them is Ionut Nan – a friend and former colleague of mine who graduated from “Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy in Constanta, Romania, at the same time with me in July 2013.

In early November 2018, Ionut was diagnosed with stomach cancer and is currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy at Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest and he really needs to be transferred to Acibadem University Hospital in Atakent for a better chance to overcome this setback.

In Romania, he is only able to receive a general type of chemotherapy (standard treatment), but if he transfers to Turkey, he would have access to a specific treatment for this cancer (targeted therapy).

Once he arrives in Turkey, he will need to have several tests done which are very expensive (especially for Romania’s salaries).

For example, MRI scans, specific blood tests – Her2, Msi & PDL1 and a biopsy will cost approximately €3000 to start with.

Following these tests, the doctors will be able to choose the best treatment for him, as the tumor is at an advanced stage which needs to be treated as soon as possible.

He needs to get transferred there by Mid-February and after the initial treatment, when the health condition allows, will hopefully be able to have a stomach transplant, if this is what the doctors will believe that is the best option for him. Unfortunately, this operation will cost at least 4000€, on top of the expenses for living and being treated in the private hospital in Atakent.

While Ionut is grateful to have strong emotional support around him, and feels optimistic, this cancer treatment comes with serious financial difficulties and unexpected expenses that the family would like to be prepared for.

Our goal is to raise €20,000 to support him and his family during this difficult time. Any contribution is greatly appreciated!
