Toejam’s Medical Bills

Hi everyone! My name is Ray and I’m the cat dad of Toejam. She is our sweet baby girl who just turned 11 in December. Toejam has also been my wife’s registered emotional support animal for many years and couldn’t be loved more than she is! Toejam unfortunately fell ill in October of 2020. She had originally gone in to see the doctor for a cortisone shot for skin allergies and a rabies vaccine but came out a very sick kitty! Between October 29th and November 20th, Toejam lost 3 lbs due to not eating. She was skin and bones. She was not using the bathroom or drinking any. She was hiding all day and night. She was preparing herself for what felt like the end for her. We had taken her to 3 different vets to find out what was wrong. We got every possible thing from pancreatitis to cancer. In that time frame, she required just shy of $4000 worth of treatment and scans/screenings. This included X-rays for possible peritonitis, bloodwork for possible FIV, FIP, fungal infections and cancer screening, ultrasounds and fluid extraction for cancer screening, medications, fluids and several days of being hospitalized. She was tested for a number of infectious diseases, cancers and other possible concerns and sadly, $4000 later and we do not have any answers to what went wrong with our sweet girl. With plenty of fluids, antibiotics, more steroids, some Pepcid and anti-nausea medicine, She is doing 100x’s better and living her best cat life in our new home!! Unfortunately, we found ourselves in great debt. Toejam now requires special foods and checkups that my wife and I cannot afford, especially after the bills that pile up for her sickness. We are looking for a little help from our fellow cat dads and cat moms to help us not only get a little out of debt but to try and continue taking care of our sweet baby. She has many years left with us and we want to make sure they are as peaceful and purrfect as possible! Anything that can be contributed would be great!
