Campaign Story
Finn is a marvellous little man who is extremely intelligent and fabulously creative. Unfortunately Finn has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and his (equally marvellous, intelligent, fabulously creative and single) mum Ronel is trying her best to support Finn through thouroughly researched therapy (rather than controversial medication). She is doing a lot of the work with him by herself but Finn will also be going to a Neurotherapist once every week for the next 40 weeks. This will cost ZAR 500 per session - none of which will be covered by Finn's medical aid.
I know if one of my children suffered with ADHD I would have wanted to explore this route fully before medicating my child. As my mum is a teacher needing to deal with many children with this increasingly more prevalent problem I also understand both the frustration and demands teachers face in the classroom and passionately wish for better, more integrated and where at all possible more natural treatments and solutions for children, parents and teachers.
Ronel and Finn is the kind of team that can make a difference for other people.
This fundraising project will go towards paying for Finn's treatment.

Thank you Sanja for doing this. You have no idea what difference this will make for Finn. We do not need another label for him in this world of 'cookie cutter' people. And thank you Steph for making a contribution. We've never met you and still you have the compassion to just give without receiving anything in return. Thank you for that. We will keep you posted on his response to Neurotherapy :)

Thank you for the backing, Sue! We've done four sessions of neurotherapy so far and Finn is responding very well. In the 24 hours after each session he reads very well (which is quite a remarkable change seeing that he must put a lot of effort in reading), is focussed, sleeps well in the evening and wake up all bright eyed and bushy tailed ;) We also are looking into a new diet to get the gut flora normal again and I'm working on a plan to exchange design work for lessons for Finn in martial arts movement that will integrate and stimulate the whole brain and be loads of fun :) We will not be able to come this far without the help and support of people like you! Thank you thank you!!
