Tina Sanctuary

Hello! :)

My name is Tina and I'm coming from Slovenia. From the young age, I've always loved animals and nature and I was always there to help an animal in need. Since I was little I've always wanted to become a vet, but this dream suddenly became impossible. One of the things you MUST do during schooling is to get some practical knowledge in slaughterhouse. And this is a big no no for me. I know how animals think and feel and going there would change me forever. I'd probably be never able to smile again, since this is one of the most painful ways to die and just hearing their screams without being able to do anything would destroy me. So since I know I'm never going to become a vet, I still want to help animals in some way. That's why I've started to dream about my own animal sanctuary. Sanctuary where each and every animal would be welcome and would be given the best life 'till her/his natural death. But then I've realized that I don't even know where to get the right property. There was one, an awesome one, but it wasn't for sale. Untill NOW! Just by coincidence I've seen the add and I knew it, this is my one and probably only chance to make my dreams a reality! The only thing standing between those two is the amount I'm asking all of you for. I know it's a lot, but there is no better use of this huge property than animal sanctuary. Right? So please, I'm asking you from the bottom of my heart - donate as little or as much as you can - everything counts. Because after all, if everyone who see this give only $1, we will raise enough in no time!

So now we come to another very important part of this fundraiser - what my end goal is. Of course just saying that I want to have an animal sanctuary is not enough. Many of you will wonder what animals will I accept in my care and where to get enough money in the long run for this to actually work.

So first of all I want to say that literally each and every animal will be welcome. I hope on saving at least some farm animals from slaughter, but otherwise I will accept any animal in need of home - farm animals, wild animals that cannot be returned to the wild and of course - pets. My wish is also to offer a foster home for cats and dogs that are rescued by different organisations and as we all know, they don't have unlimited space. Sometimes rescued animals are also put in places where organisations need to pay for their care until they're adopted. But animals in my care will have a free stay until they find a forever home!

Now we come to another important part - where will I get enough money to take care for all the animals? Well, luckily for us, the place I'm intending to buy already has apartmens. So tourism will be one form of my income (besides my job that is not really paid good enough). I hope that this remote location will attract tourists that love nature. The surrounding landscape offeres many beautiful places to go to and many things to do. But I'm also hoping to teach people more about animals that would live in the sanctuary, but also about those that don't. We all know that most of animal torture and neglect comes from not understanding them.

Another form of income will come eventually, since I'm going to create a series of cartoons or an animated movie about animals and how they see the world from their perspective. This sadly cannot be done in a matter of weeks but it takes a lot more time.

And of course a picture of me and my friend's dog Luna that sadly passed away on 29th of September 2014.
