Tina Organization

Tina Organization is an NPO that was inspired by a late woman who lived positively with HIV, hence the name "Tina". The name is in honor of her and all the humanitarian activities she was involved with whilst HIV positive and the lives that she impacted. This organization drew inspiration from the latter days of her life and the community betterment projects she implemented, but we as Tina Organization are more inclined towards women who are infected and affected by HIV because we have come to a realization that although South Africa has the highest rates of HIV prevalence in the world, women still remain at the epicenter of this epidemic than their male counterparts.

The organization consists of 10 brilliant young South and Southern African women who are in different disciplines of studies, and the reason behind this diverse group of disciplines is because we believe HIV is more of a social virus than it is a biological virus, there are syndemic factors at play which makes it more rampant in certain countries than others. Consequently, the vast knowledge that every young woman will provide from their respective fields in trying to combat these rates, will give us multidimensional lenses and enable us to be in a better position to tackle the rates and dismantle anything negative associated with people living positively with HIV in the modern era.

Our organization will start one of its pilot projects in High Schools where we mentor young girls, with the hopes that they do not fall prey to old men (blessers) who according to research; are one of the biggest contributors to the spread of HIV. We currently do not have the financial means to help these young women, and we are hoping that with your help, we will be in a better financial position to impact the lives of a girl child and further prevent them from contracting the virus from the aforementioned.

Your donation will also help up with creating an enabling environment for these girls, one of the activities that we plan on doing as an organization is taking field trips with these young girls and giving them a taste of what life could be for them if they choose not to succumb to peer pressure, not sleep around without protection, focus on their books, etc, but we can only be able to carry out some of these activities if we have the financial capabilities.

Tina = Rose's late mother's name.
