Against Mandatory Minimum

This is a campaign for Tim Jones legal fees but it represents so much more.

We have been trying to keep this matter private but we are not get the support we need and time is running tight. Tim nor any of his family are aware of this so please keep questions to on this platform

Currently in Idaho they have "mandatory minimums" put in place since 1992.

(A) Is two (2) grams or more, but less than seven (7) grams, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum fixed term of imprisonment of three (3) years and fined not less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000);

(B) Is seven (7) grams or more, but less than twenty-eight (28) grams, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum fixed term of imprisonment of ten (10) years and fined not less than fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000);

(C) Is twenty-eight (28) grams or more, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum fixed term of imprisonment of fifteen (15) years and fined not less than twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000).

The current charge of “drug trafficking” does not mean prosecutors have proof of dealing or bringing drugs across state lines. The law focuses on the amount of drugs in an individual’s possession.

The prisons are overcrowded because they are locking people up for decades for the littlest crimes but if a murder is committed in the perpetration of, or attempt to perpetrate, aggravated battery on a child under 12 years of age, arson, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping or mayhem, an act of terrorism, or the use of a weapon of mass destruction, biological weapon or chemical weapon- these things have a mandatory minimum of just 10 years!

In the state of Ohio Issue 1 in November will Convert felony 4 and felony 5 drug possession and drug use crimes to misdemeanors with no jail time for first and second offenses committed within a 24-month period;

Cut prison time for offenders who complete rehabilitation programs, EXCEPT those convicted of murder, rape or child molestation;

on a large scheme of things we know the systematic racism causing them to lock up poor people of color (please watch "13th" Documentary) which goes into that further.

We can not let them continue to do this to our people and our next generations. We have to make changes on a local level and join together in our communities. I am asking for everyone's help with anything you can donate because Tim does not deserve the time he is facing and we need legal assistance for proper representation for an appeal. He is a non violent offender and they are trying to force him with many others to Texas because of the mass incarceration for petty crimes. Please help get him home and cut this time. He is a Son,Father, husband ,best friend, brother, son-in-law,skater,musician,writer, a family man and so much more. It could have been any of us in this situation. He is one of the kindest souls I've known. It doesn't stop here either and change is needed everywhere.
