It's a catch 22 situation.... need money to pay for an education, need an education to get the money.... so rapidly approaching forty I've hit a wall. Due to my back giving out on me I can't do the work I was trained for (Chef /KP work) as the job was/is very physical, so I've got qualifications for something I can't do anymore which means they are pretty much useless to me now.

The hope with this fund raiser is to help me get through the needed courses to get myself 'back out there' and get off state hand-outs for good.

I'm going to be taking the AAT (Access level) in early 2017, this one I can just about fund myself and it should open up a few new job prospects...the real 'problem' is going to be the level 2 and upwards certifications as the cost is between 2-3k a year (ouch!), I've run several credit checks and a loan isn't going to happen and as for relying on yet more government support..... not a chance... it's all loans, loans and more loans....something which even if I could get one would leave me in serious debt/trouble very quickly.

The math keeps coming back with a large flashing skull and cross bones in it....

"So you're asking for £10,000? Are you serious?!!"

This was my rough estimate for the ENTIRE cost of the 3-4 years (Course fees & travel costs to take the exams and the 4% fee from GoGetFunding....) it'll take me to get all the right bits of paper to really have a fighting chance in the world of financial accountancy. It'd be wonderful to get the full 10k but to be honest ANY donation, seriously even a 'troll penny' is very welcome and will help take the sting out of the course costs.

"Why do you deserve my money?"

Honestly I don't deserve your money. There are people in far worse situations than myself and people far more in need than I could even fathom doing all they can to drag themselves up by the boots straps and better their lives. All I can say is that when life threw me this curve ball (being unable to physically do the work I'd trained for) I had NO back-up plan and that I'd like to be given 'second chance' to be an ordinary working person that can contribute to society.

"Yeah...right....you'll spend it on booze and hookers..."

Well, I don't own a car, I don't drink or smoke, I don't go out partying...ever....and as for hookers.. I don't think my boyfriend of 13+ years would be very keen on that....I'd be very surprised to wake up next to any woman as I don't bat for that team let alone one I'd have to pay for the company of...

"Fine...you'll get pregnant and quit the course..."

Nope. Had one who is hitting 18 in June of 2017 and can safely say my baby making days are over. Maybe with IVF but my partner is very firmly in the "Oh hell no!" camp and quite frankly so am I!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

"If I can get just £5 from 2000 people it would raise all I need....or £2 from 5000...or even £1 from 10,000"
